Great laps! This being a Bringing It All Together assignment, we're a bit more demanding and we'd like to see you drive in a few different tracks to see how you perform in each one. The more data, the better and it also means more practice time for you, so keep it up and we'll be looking forward to analysing your sessions!

Extra -

From your sessions in Monza, you missed an apex there, but it was a race session, so there might have been a car on the inside. Apart from that, it looks like your chicanes need a little work, you can often aim for a straighter line and try to cut the corners just a bit more like in this example. Of course, this being a race session it's understandable that you're being just a little safe to avoid mistakes and track cuts, but do try to extract a bit more from chicanes.

We also noticed that your logger isn't on the latest version and this might be affecting your sessions that are being recorded.  This article explains how to upgrade to the latest version, if the system hasn't managed to automatically upgrade you.👉 Update Track Titan Logger 👈Please ensure you also delete the folders that are indicated in the article.

Nice stuff. With all you have learnt in the last few months you are beginning to master the braking game. We looked at timing, pressure, speed and trailbraking and you have really progressed in all these areas. As always there is no such thing as perfect so keep working at it because you can always improve. Keep looking at the telemetry to get clues.

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

30/01/2025
Your braking strategy is promising, but a few refinements could elevate your overall performance. For this comprehensive assessment, it's important that every element works in harmony, so I encourage you to revisit your braking approach. Your timing and force at the braking points are impressive; however, consider experimenting with a more controlled and gradual release of brake pressure as you transition into the turn. This adjustment might help you maintain better balance and flow through the corner. With these tweaks, you'll be well on your way to a flawless performance. Keep pushing—you're very close to mastering it!

Extra - One key area to focus on is maintaining higher minimum speeds, which largely comes down to braking later and staying on the throttle longer through corners. This approach will help you reduce the gap in your corner exit performance. For example, a slight delay in braking can make a noticeable difference in carrying momentum through turns. Example

----------------------

16/01/2025
You're on the right track, but there are a few tweaks we need to perfect your technique. Pay special attention to where and how you brake, particularly with trail braking. Aim to engage the brakes just once in critical braking areas. As we're synthesizing all elements for this evaluation, take another shot at refining these aspects. You're nearly there—let's nail this down before we proceed.
Please can you make sure you are on the latest logger via this link:
https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger

Extra - We've observed that you could enhance your trail braking technique. Maintaining braking smoothness is key in racing to keeping the car balanced and maximising grip. You should apply the brakes sharply at first, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner, and continue this slow release until you hit the apex. Here's an example:

----------------------

02/01/2025

You are most of the way there with braking but I am seeing a few areas we could improve. Since this is about bringing all the areas into one assessment I would like to see you try this again. Focus particularly on your braking point and the way you trailbrake. Try to also hit the brakes only once in key braking zones. You are almost there, lets just get this right before moving on.

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

20/12/2024
Your steering looks smooth and you unwind the wheel quickly but in control. This enables you to get on the power faster as the car can straighten up under traction. The car is also more stable and predictable, giving you better control as you power out of the corner. Try to use the reference to compare your steering on turn-in as well to further improve your times. Braking up next

Extra - Your car's speed through the corner suffers because you're not hugging the apex closely. Remember to leverage the full width of the track right from the entry, through the apex, and as you exit, particularly where your car feels stable. This line causes you to lift off through the corner when you could be flat. Example

----------------------

05/12/2024
You're really nailing your braking technique! It's great to see how well you're using the brakes, not just in terms of when to brake but also how you're applying them. This kind of skill helps a lot with keeping the car stable and hitting the perfect lines through corners. Your understanding and use of brake bias is spot on, enhancing your control and performance on the track. Keep it up! Your attention to detail with braking is making a big difference.

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

23/11/2024
A nice improvement, well done! You're showing good inputs on the steering and in your braking and are choosing some nice braking points.

Extra -

In most of your sessions, in this segment, you're often braking very hard and early. This might seem counter-intuitive, but you can carry more speed by braking later and being more gentle on the pedal. This way, the car will be more balanced and you'll feel more grip.
If you're having trouble in getting the car balanced, you can adjust your brake bias to see how it will affect your driving. Generally, a lower percentage of brake bias will help the car rotate more and you'll need to be a bit more careful with your inputs.

----------------------

08/11/2024
Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.  Good luck and have fun on track

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

26/10/2024
The trail braking and your steering on the turn-in are looking very good, however that turn-in point still needs some work. Sometimes you're a bit early, other times you're a bit late. It takes time to find the best turn-in points in a track because they always depend on your driving style, car and setup. Some drivers like to apex a bit early and hug the inside to have a controlled exit, other prefer to have a later apex and make the car rotate more. These differences, however are only by a few meters. There's a limit where one can hit the apex too early or too late and lose their advantages.

Extra - You are giving up mid-corner speed by not taking a tight enough apex. Make sure to use every inch of track available on corner entry, apex and exit where the car is stable. Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle because of it instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

11/10/2024
Impressive driving. Your consistency, knowledge of the track and overall racing technique is looking strong. Obviously this is reflected in the lap times. Congratulations. All good drivers will take the time to examine their telemetry. When you are drive so well, sometimes it is hard to see exactly the mistakes that are taking place on track. Just the knowledge that sometime wasn't perfect is keeping you grinding out the laps. This is great and instills needed muscle memory however, we'd advise getting dirty in the telemetry a bit more. Find common issues, or weak corners so when you are next on track you can hone in on needed areas. Train smart and train hard! Good luck.

Extra - When you accelerate it is better to use a smooth, continuous motion. Presently you are sometimes on and off the throttle to often. This can unsettle the car and make it difficult for the tyres to maintain traction. Start a little slower and then work up to a consist, smooth and fast throttle pedal action. Example

----------------------

27/09/2024
Well done, you have successfully completed your setup work. Your dedication, hard work, and hopefully new understanding of setups have allowed you to pass this milestone. Your grasp of testing different setups in sim racing demonstrates your commitment to improving your skills. Congratulations on your achievement and good luck for your next Combination Assessment.

Extra - You are often lifting off in high speed corners, like in the second part of this chicane. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

----------------------

12/09/2024
Your consistency of reaching 100% throttle as quickly as the reference lap was reasonably good. You are getting the hang of a technique here that many drivers find hard. There is still room for a faster application so keep working on it. Go through the items on the Previous Plans list that you struggle with most and you'll be knocking even more time off your laps.

Extra - You are often lifting off in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

----------------------

29/08/2024
When you steer your car, you are essentially changing its direction by altering the angle of the wheels. However, if you turn the wheels too much, the car will experience understeer. This means that the car's front wheels lose grip and traction, causing it to slow down and become less responsive to your steering inputs. So, while it may seem tempting to turn your steering wheel as much as possible to take a turn, it is actually more efficient to find the sweet spot where the car maintains its grip and speed. By mastering the balance between steering and maintaining traction, you'll be able to navigate the track with ease and speed. During this week you've managed this very well with only a couple of times that you've been scrubbing the tyres, so very well done.

Extra - We've noticed that your trail braking can improve. In racing, being smooth is important to keep the car balanced and the grip levels high. Try to remember back to last time. While the first attack on the brakes is supposed to be very quick, releasing the brakes is a slow and smooth process. Try to start releasing the brakes at around the turn-in point and do it in a gradual motion until you reach the apex. Example

----------------------

15/08/2024
Decent use of trail braking, by releasing the brake slowly to help rotate the car around sharper hairpins and get back on the throttle smoothly. This will help shave tenths off your time as you are setting yourself up well for the corner exit. Try also to be a little flexible about the power of your braking, remember of faster corners you can avoid braking all the way to 100%. I would like to see you be a bit smoother with this technique as you are still a bit inconsistent.

Extra - Let's address your throttle timing. If you're hitting that gas pedal too late, you're missing out on optimal acceleration and forcing yourself to play catch-up. Aim to apply throttle promptly after braking to maintain a smooth and consistent pace. Don't leave it too late; find that balance for a smoother ride. Example

----------------------

01/08/2024
Sorry again but this is your key area of weakness. This is a hard skill to develop but it is very useful for understanding the weight distribution of your car. Also, as the plan states it gives a slightly extended time at top speed on the straights. Practice hard and try to feel how the car reacts as you slowly release the brake. Remember, as a guide to gauge finishing releasing the brake as you reach near the apex.

Extra - Take a look at this example. The reference driver is bleeding off the brakes over a long period. You however, are lifting off the brake instantly. By doing so you create an almost instantaneous shift in balance and can overload the tyres. Example

----------------------

18/07/2024
You are close but are not trailbraking as much as I would like to see. Your brake pedal inputs re releasing too quickly as you turn in. This can unsettle the car. Try to extend the time of trailbraking into the apex further to spread the tyre load more evenly through the transition.

Extra - In this chicane you lift off throttle for the second part. The reference driver is able to keep it pinned through the right-left of the Ascari chicane. Take a lesson from this. Example

----------------------

05/07/2024
As more skills are added to the combination assessments they naturally become harder. Essentially there are more areas where errors can be seen. You did an extremely good job last week and managed to pass. If you look back at your telemetry you'll be able to spot small improvements that are needed. For example, sometimes just a slight hesitation on the throttle as you accelerate or missing a tight apex.

Extra - It looks like you missed the apex on this one. The cost is to your throttle application because you clearly could not get on the power soon enough as a result. Example

----------------------

20/06/2024
This is a pass. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. There are a few hesitations but in general you are on the right track. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off.

Extra - You could work on your trailbraking here. This will help you to rotate the car into the apex. Also on exit you might be giving up too much of the throttle by avoiding lifting off. Example

----------------------

07/06/2024

Impressively consistent race times, showcasing your dedication and skill. This consistent performance is a crucial asset as you prepare for your upcoming Combination Assessment. Keep up the great work, it's evident that you're on the right track towards achieving your goals.

Extra - You lose a bit of time on the entry to Parabolica because you do not trailbrake. This can both help maintain good car balance and allow you to brake later. Example

----------------------

24/05/2024
Better. Your racing lines are starting to look like you know what you are doing. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are a few corners where you are still entering too tight, which costs you minimum speed. Lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra - In this corner you got lightly on the throttle super early before the apex, even before you were off the brake. Had you have delayed this a little you would have been able to get more quickly to full power on exit to propel yourself down the straight. Example

----------------------

09/05/2024
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track. Stay wide on the entry, don't drift towards the apex, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - Avoid getting on the throttle too early, it is better to rotate the car fully and then really hammer down, and accelerate out of the corner. Also remember the basics, powerful braking and as per this assessment, work to fully exploit the full width of the track - example

----------------------

25/04/2024
Your chicane technique is strong. You demonstrate good mid-corner throttle control and you get on the power well on exit. You could benefit from a wider entry and exit to the complex to carry more speed. Also you might benefit staying tighter in the first part of the chicanes to benefit the exit which is carried onto the following straight. Racing line technique is next.

Please can you also make sure you are on the latest logger via this link: https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger

Extra - Sometimes you get on the power too early in the corner. You can see from this example that it causes you to run wide and acually delays your drive to 100% throttle.

----------------------

11/04/2024
Nicely driven! You improved in these 4 key areas over the last few weeks. There will always to improvements and adjustments that you can make. It is all about fine tuning those braking points, racing line and throttle application. Your gears look decent but always check back to the telemetry. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - Your main weakness is trailbraking. Try to release the brakes in a smooth way as to not unsettle the car. Example

----------------------

28/03/2024
Good corner gear choices. It is often the case that people change down too far in a belief that it will be faster however, you nailed this. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra - When you com off the brakes you do it almost instantly. Try to bleed off the the brakes, especialy into fast corners. Example

----------------------

14/03/2024
Fantastic racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apex's. Great job using the whole width of the track. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can slowly tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are nailing the clipping points mid-corner. Just work on your consistency because some laps you miss the mark. Keep it up!

Extra - Try getting on the throttle earlier in the Ascari Chicane, you will carry this speed all the way down the back straight. Example

----------------------

29/02/2024
Very nice, your braking points are sharp and spot on most of the time. Important! Be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily.

Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - You are driving well, just a little early on the brakes and a little slow with the power of your throttle.  These small variations are the difference, nail this and you'll see small improvements in your lap times - example

----------------------

24/02/2024
Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors

If you have any questions please drop the instructors an email through keith@tracktitan.io
