Michael Dos Santos - Race Plan No. 17

Conclusion
There are still a few fundamental problems to fix. Two main ones being your braking and your throttle. Your brake application is good, but the release is quite sudden. This removes the weight from the front end of your car, costing you grip. This means that you can't turn as fast and you also cant apex as fast as normal. I also see an unusual blip of the throttle before a lot of your apexes. This will also remove weight from your front wheels, and hinder your throttle input on exit as well. Fixing these will help to dramatically lower lap times overall.

Set Up Advice
Monaco in particular is a tough track on setup. The aim is to maximise grip overall, so balancing that with manoeuvrability is a tough challenge. For a better baseline, have a look at the setup tab to help you maximise the car right off the bat.

--> Track Titan website - Segment analysis <--

Segment 1

☐ For this segment, you take a much straighter approach to braking, but this will unfortunately slow your apex speed because you have a much more harsh angle to turn into. Your braking starts earlier than it should and you still seem to be releasing the brakes very suddenly, which could unsettle the car and lower your apex speed more. There is still a small blip of the throttle before you start accelerating fully, so make sure that you eliminate this for future laps.

Segment 2

☐ This segment is driven flat out.

Segment 3

☐ Your braking happens very early here, and you seem to be freewheeling through most of the corner. You are also running quite wide through the first part of this corner, taking even more time away from you. Aim to keep towards the inside half of the track through this corner, and this will help you carry more speed and brake later. For the second apex, you brake quite harshly as well, so aim to roll speed into there rather than trying to scrub it off.

Segment 4

☐ Again your braking begins early, but you release quite early and quite quickly. For a corner such as Mirabeau, it's important to keep the car stable on entry. Similarly to segment 1, you have a blip of the throttle, so try your best to avoid this.

Segment 5

☐ For this corner being so slow, it's very easy to lose time. In your instance, you brake earlier than you need to and it causes you to scrub off a lot of speed very early on. This lowers your speed too soon, taking a lot of time away from you as well. There is still a small blip of the throttle on entry to the hairpin, and your line on the exit of the next apex is quite shallow, you can afford to carry more speed out of this segment.

Segment 6

☐ It seems as though you brake too little for this segment, leading to a small bit of understeer at the apex. For a circuit as tight as this, it will lose you a lot of time, so it's better to be slightly slow than slightly fast.

Segment 7

☐ This segment is driven flat out.

Segment 8

☐ The braking has a similar problem to previous segments and sessions, where you don't quite apply quick enough, but you release very quickly. There is also a small blip of the throttle. Your lines are also not quite shallow enough, so try to get as close to the walls as you can to extend the track to its fullest.

Segment 9

☐ The braking here is quite excessive, but your throttle application on exit is good. It could still be a little quicker though, and your line could be tighter.

Segment 10

☐ This segment is driven flat out.

Segment 11

☐ The braking is a similar story to previously, where the application is quite slow but the release is quite sudden, which could unsettle the car. Your line is quite tight though, so well done. Your throttle application still seems quite erratic, so make sure you can apply throttle to full before starting to accelerate.

Segment 12

☐ You brake slightly earlier than the reference lap here, but you have a lower entry speed overall, so you are still below the apex speed of the reference lap. Your line though is actually very good here, though you still have a blip of the throttle on the way into the corner which will create a small amount of understeer.

Segment 13

☐ You apply a small amount of braking whereas the reference lap doesn't brake at all. Additionally, you have a small blip of the throttle before the apex, which will force you to lower your apex speed even lower. Aim to take a smoother approach to all inputs to maximise the speed back out on to the main straight.
