Instructor Notes

20/08/2026
Great use of trail braking, by releasing the brake slowly to help rotate the car around sharper hairpins and get back on the throttle smoothly. This will help shave tenths off your time as you are setting yourself up well for the corner exit. Try also to be a little flexible about the power of your braking, remember of faster corners you can avoid braking all the way to 100%.

Bonus Focus Point

You are braking too early, causing your speed to drop significantly earlier than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try braking a later point so you can gain more time overall by carrying more speed under braking and maintaining a higher minimum speed in general through the corner. - Example

Previous Instructor Notes

04/08/2026
You have shown a decent understanding of the skills we've looked at over the last few weeks. There is still a little room for improvement but this is good enough to pass, well done. We will move onto the next set of skills now. Good luck and have fun!

Extra -

Currently, you aren't using all the track on corner exit. Compare to the reference lap in the linked segment (example) and see how much of the circuit they are using. By going wider entering the corner, you are able to take more speed throughout the whole turn and gain an advantage on the following straight as well.

----------------------

21/07/2026
There are several areas that need significant improvement, and unfortunately, this has resulted in failing the assignment. In this second combined assessment, we are considering eight key factors that influence your driving performance. First, you need to pay more attention to your gear choices. On multiple occasions, you dropped into gears that were too low, which has a direct impact on your lap times. Your braking points were mostly acceptable, but there were several misjudgments. You need to work on how quickly you’re braking, as this can lead to unnecessary time loss. However, the most noticeable issue was your inconsistent braking, going on and off the brakes too much. This disrupts your rhythm and efficiency on the track. It’s crucial to review your sessions in detail. Without doing so, you will continue to guess at your performance, which is not an effective approach. The top drivers analyse every aspect of their driving, constantly searching for small mistakes and testing adjustments in their lines and braking techniques to improve their lap times. Until you adopt this level of analysis and attention to detail, you will struggle to make the necessary improvements to pass.

Extra -

You are too slow getting back on full throttle on corner exits (Example), costing you a considerable amount of time as your exit speed is significantly lower than optimal due to the slower acceleration. Try and get back onto full throttle quicker so you can carry a higher exit speed out of the corner, gaining you more time overall as a result.

You also are lifting off the throttle too much, giving you a much slower speed through the corner and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try lift off the throttle with less pressure so you can maintain a higher minimum speed, gaining you more time overall. - Example

‍

----------------------

09/07/2026
This is a pass. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. There are a few hesitations but in general you are on the right track. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off. Now focus on speeding this up, but not too much that you need to lift off - find the sweet spot.

Extra -

You are releasing the brakes too early, which ends up with your car approaching the corner with too much speed and overshoot the corner, significantly compromising your exit as a result and costing you a considerable amount of time. Try braking with more pressure for longer so you can slow the car down quicker and more efficiently, allowing you to avoid overshooting the corner, gaining you more time overall due to maintaining a higher minimum speed. - Example

‍

----------------------

25/06/2026
This is unfortunately not yet a pass, you're often accelerating early in the corner and then lifting off before accelerating a final time. Try to let the car coast a bit on the apex to help you find the best place to accelerate out of the corner. When you feel more confident, reduce the amount of time you spend coasting.

Extra -

You are too slow coming back on throttle when exiting the corner, costing you a lot of time as a result of your exit speed is significantly lower than optimal as you leave the corner. Try get on the throttle quicker so you can accelerate out of the corner faster, letting you carry a higher exit speed and gain more time overall. - Example

‍

----------------------

11/06/2026
Some more work is needed here before we progress. You are currently lifting off the throttle in some corners that can be taken flat. Focus on building confidence through these fast corners to find some more time. You may need to adjust you corner entry line and traction control to avoid understeer. Give this assignment another go and see how you get on. Good luck and have fun!

Extra -

You are still not getting back on the power quickly enough, costing you time and compromising your exit speed significantly. You need to carry more speed through the corner. Brake later so you can carry more speed, and be more patient before putting the throttle down. You are going back on throttle in the middle of the braking zone, causing you to run wide. The throttle input you add is not at the right part of the corner, you have to do it as you are leaving the corner, not whilst still braking for the corner. Have a look at the reference lap to see how it should work, and then give this one another go. - Example

----------------------

28/05/2026
Some more work is needed here before we progress. You are currently lifting off the throttle in some corners that can be taken flat. Focus on building confidence through these fast corners to find some more time. You may need to adjust you corner entry line and traction control to avoid understeer. Give this assignment another go and see how you get on. Good luck and have fun!

Extra -

You aren't aggressive enough when getting back on power. Have a look at this linked segment (example) and see how the reference lap quickly applies the throttle, while you apply slowly and carefully. This costs you time under acceleration and down the straights. A bit of work here and you'll see several tenths come off your lap times πŸ’ͺ

----------------------

11/05/2026
Nicely done, you show that consistency is there. Work on this more with more longer sessions of 20+ laps as ones concentration sometimes affects ones consistency in these longer sessions. This skill is important as you work towards your second Combination Assessment.

Extra -

You are coming back on throttle too early, which induces understeer as you are carrying too much speed on the exit. You have to release the throttle again to avoid running off track, which costs you a lot of time. Try be more patient before going back on throttle, so you can avoid running wide and gain more time overall as a result of a more optimal racing line. - Example

----------------------

27/04/2026
There are some good times, however also too many invalid laps. I appreciate that this is inevitable when training but it is worth really focusing on this technique as nailing lap after lap without invalid laps is critical in a race situation. It can be the difference between a drive through or not. Slow you driving down a little and really concentrate on the consistency with valid laps. A racing drivers main skill has to be able to achieve similar lap times lap after lap. Drop your speed 10% and achieve these valid laps to move on with your training.

Extra -

You are braking with maximum pressure for too long, causing your speed to be significantly lower than optimal reaching the apex and costing you significant time as you are unable to carry the same speed as the reference lap. Try releasing the brakes a bit quicker so you can maintain a higher minimum speed through the corner and gain more time overall. - Example

----------------------

13/04/2026
Sorry for the delay on the update.
Your racing lines are starting to look like you know what you are doing. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are a few corners where you are still entering too tight, which costs you minimum speed. Lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra -

In the chicanes at Zolder, you can use a lot more kerb to straighten your racing line and gain quite a bit of time there. Use your practice sessions to have a better feel of the track limits to avoid penalties during the race, and also to get a good feel of where the kerbs might unsettle the car - Example

----------------------

31/03/2026
Your chicane technique is strong. You demonstrate good mid-corner throttle control and you get on the power well on exit. You could benefit from a wider entry and exit to the complex to carry more speed. Racing line technique is next.

Extra -

You entered the bus stop chicane in a more shallow line than optimal, which compromised your speed mid chicane and costed you time as your speed was lower than optimal due to the tighter entry. Try take a wider entry into the bus stop chicane, so you can maintain a higher minimum speed and gain more time. - Example

----------------------

Sorry for the delay on the update.
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Secondly, there are a number of times that your gear choice could be improved. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - It looks like you're sometimes losing a bit of time on corner complexes. Most of the times, you're going too deep after the first apex (example) and end up losing time at the exit of the segment. In corner complexes, it's usually faster to sacrifice some exit speed after the first apex to then have a better entry into the second corner, especially if the following segment includes a straight or a full throttle section.
During your practise sessions, try different approaches to the segment in the given example and see how each one affects your delta. Good luck!

----------------------

17/02/2026
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - You're rolling onto the throttle prematurely, leading to front-end push and requiring you to ease off. Delay the initial application slightly, then be bolder and smoother as you squeeze on the power. Example

---------------------

02/02/2026
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - Your throttle application is delaying your acceleration phase, impacting your straight-line speed. Maximise throttle input earlier to optimise top speed for the next straight. Focus on swift and seamless throttle control, utilising track space efficiently to maintain straight alignment for maximal power transfer and acceleration efficiency. Example

----------------------

20/01/2026
Your braking is too inconsistent. Sometimes you are showing good technique and other times your braking strength is not where it needs to be for that particular corner. This leads to other mistakes in your driving. Try to improve your consistency for the next assessment so we can move past this stage.

Extra - Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track. Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Now you only need to stay under that limit. Example

----------------------

06/01/2026
A bit more work is needed here. There were some good segments, but there were times your brake inputs weren't optimal. Have a look at the advice bellow and let's give this assignment another go.

Extra - You aren't using enough brake pressure right now which means you have to brake earlier. If you use more brake pressure you can brake later. When braking you want to press the brake quickly, then hold at peak pressure (pressure changes depending on the corner), then release quickly. Don't forget to compare with the reference lap to see what you're doing differently. - example

----------------------

22/12/2025
Could you please drive more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to get a read of how you are doing, even if you are not driving as part of a specific plan. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

----------------------

08/12/2025
Well done. Your apexes are looking good for now. Sometimes you are a little deep on exit but we'll work on that as we progress through the plan. Well done.

Extra - You are taking a little too much speed into corners which affects you corner exits. This is because you are braking a little too late. If you brake a little earlier and apply the brakes faster you'll find some time on exit. Your brake pressure is really good right now so no need to change that. - example

----------------------

24/11/2025
Well done, your braking points are looking really good. There are a few corners where you brake too late, let's work on those as we progress through the plan. Keep an eye on your brake pressure, in the GT3 cars you've been driving it can actually be better to use a little less pressure to avoid triggering the ABS.

Extra - You're often getting on the throttle too early which causes understeer. Try waiting a bit longer before getting on power. You also turn the wheel to much in most corners which increases the understeer, try reducing your steering angle by ~20 degrees in medium and low speed corners. - example

----------------------

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track πŸ’ͺ

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
