Could you please run more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to make sure we're getting it right. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Extra - Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track. Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Now you only need to stay under that limit. Example

----------------------

08/09/2025
This is still an hard area for you and more practice is needed. Slow your speed down a little (you can coast mid corner to gently slow your car) and then ensure that when you accelerate it is smooth without lifting off the throttle at all. When you have mastered this as a slower speed and get the feeling for a continual smooth acceleration then you can move back up to full race pace and try to control your acceleration again.

Extra - The primary problem right now is that you're easing off the accelerator too early rather than accelerating fully to maximum throttle. Consider tweaking your racing path a bit—aiming for a tighter approach to the apex should make a big difference. Example

Please do more laps. You need between 30 to 50 to really see how you're doing. Our trainers are here to help whenever. Good luck and have fun out there!

----------------------

30/07/2025
Nicely done, you show that consistency is there. Work on this more with more longer sessions of 20+ laps as ones concentration sometimes affects ones consistency in these longer sessions. This skill is important as you work towards your second Combination Assessment.

Extra - Here you turn in too late. This means your entry is compromised because you have to use a tighter radius. For corners where exits onto the straight are critical you want to be apexing later like this but not here where there is a corner following. Example

----------------------

14/07/2025
Your racing lines are starting to look like you know what you are doing. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are a few corners where you are still entering too tight, which costs you minimum speed. Lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra - You are often lifting off in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Sometimes it is okay to lift slightly but do this on the way in, not on exit - it is better for momentum. Example

Good control through the chicanes. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers' skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line and mis-chicane acceleration are looking good. Also try to release the throttle more during the braking zones (not just in chicanes), it is something that might be having a negative impact on the car's braking performance.
Remember, gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds.

Extra - There are a few places where you're using the brakes where you don't need to. Taking a look at this segment, you can see the reference lap manages to stay at full throttle for longer and avoids using the brakes. Keeping the corner speed higher and the car more stable by only lifting off the throttle makes the car produce more downforce and grip.
You can also see the reference car is slowing down slightly even when at full throttle. The reference driver is controlling their speed by using the tyres' friction to slow down during the corner and by using engine braking, downshifting to 6th gear into the second corner.
This is all about trusting the car, increase your downforce levels in the setup menu if you feel that can help you. Give this segment a few tries without using the brakes to see if you can stay in control and how much you can improve. Good luck!

----------------------

12/05/2025
Braking points are generally good however at Silverstone you are braking early for the chicane. There are some things to work on a little more. The mid chicane throttle work is lacking a little, you manage to get your foot down but this can be more pronounced, there is a tenth or two to be found here. Have confidence to put your foot down more mid chicane to squeeze in a little acceleration. It might feel insignificant but it all adds up.

Extra - Any hesitation or increased steering angle in F1 will really cut into your lap times. Take a look at this segment, a small lift, probably caused by uncertainty after taking a slightly wide apex resulted in an avoidable 0.2s. This was consistent across laps, either a dab of the brakes or a small lift of the throttle - example

----------------------

28/04/2025
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited, and the majority of the racing skills learned have been displayed across multiple segments. There are some areas where improvements are needed, which will lower your lap times. Firstly, work on refining your cornering techniques. Mastering this will significantly benefit your overall performance. Secondly, there are several instances where your gear choice could be improved. Learning truly comes from driving, analysing, and then driving again until you feel you've reached a plateau, then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible

Extra - You've made good progress, but it's important to address your tendency to brake early. While being cautious is understandable, braking too early can lead to a loss of momentum, affecting your overall lap time. To optimise your performance, try to identify braking points that allow you to carry more speed into the corners. Gradually delay your braking to find the sweet spot where you're slowing down just enough without sacrificing speed. With practice, you'll find the right balance and see noticeable improvements in your lap times. Keep refining your technique—you've got this! Example

----------------------

14/04/2025
It is a hard task to bring all these skills together at the same time. Keep up the work, it is worth persevering. By concentrating on the important of the braking point and power will make it possible to turn your attention more to the throttle. It is at this point that you'll see the biggest improvements in your times. The braking points and apex work suffered in this combination assessment. Concentrate on these two areas to move onto the next training plan.

Extra - Looks like you are slow on the straights. Improving straight-line speed starts with optimising your vehicle's setup: ensure your aero downforce is not too much, look as suspension alignment, and consider gear ratios that favour acceleration and peaks at the top of top gear. Remember, smooth inputs and maintaining momentum are key to shaving off those crucial tenths of a second. Example

----------------------

01/04/2025
There is some good segments and some bad. The main issue is the braking point and the power of braking. These need looking at again as you struggled to find your braking points. Interestingly your gear choice was very good which was your weakest assessment over the previous sessions. Bringing all these skills together at the same time takes time and effort. Concentrate on one or two tracks and you should have this in the bag. Remember try a few quick sessions to ensure there are no glaring errors when you review your telemetry.

Extra - This extra dab on the brake needs to be avoided whenever possible, it is killing your exit speed and unsettling the car. Example

----------------------

19/03/2025
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times.
So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment.

Extra - You can sometimes be quicker on the transition from full throttle to full brakes, you can gain some essential time there. By practising the same quick motion on that first attack on the brakes, the car will behave more predictably and your braking points will also be more consistent. Here's a good example for you to take into account.

We also noticed that your logger isn't on the latest version and this might be affecting your sessions that are being recorded.  This article explains how to upgrade to the latest version, if the system hasn't managed to automatically upgrade you.

We'll give you one more shot at this but you are still shifting into a gear that is too low for the corner, using a higher gear will give you smoother power delivery and will reduce engine braking. Keep up the good laps! You are making progress!

This section could use a bit more refinement. You're frequently shifting down to a gear that's too low for the corner, which is costing you valuable time. Take a look at the gearing decisions from the reference lap and experiment with staying in a higher gear where you can maintain better control of the car. Once you get the hang of it, you should see your segment times improve noticeably.

----------------------

04/02/2025
You're losing time in the corners by downshifting too aggressively.  You have more speed available if you carry a higher gear.  Compare your gear selection to the reference lap and experiment with using a gear higher where you feel comfortable.  You should see your sector times improve as you find the right balance.

----------------------

07/01/2025
A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are dropping into a gear too low for the corner, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Extra - Your car's speed through the corner suffers because you're not hugging the apex closely. Remember to leverage the full width of the track right from the entry, through the apex, and as you exit, particularly where your car feels stable. Example

----------------------

24/12/2024
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - Your throttle application is delaying your acceleration phase, impacting your straight-line speed. Maximise throttle input earlier to optimise top speed for the next straight. Focus on swift and seamless throttle control, utilising track space efficiently to maintain straight alignment for maximal power transfer and acceleration efficiency. Example

----------------------

09/12/2024
There needs to be a little more speed and urgency in your braking. Sometimes you nail it but on too many occasions there is too much hesitancy. You are braking a little earlier than the reference lap and getting to 100% braking later. Try to press the brake pedal quicker whilst doing your best to maintain traction. Also, try to avoid resting on the brake pedal before fully committing to the braking phase. Practice is needed but it is a skill that is relatively easy to view and adapt to.

Extra - You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

----------------------

26/11/2024
We have almost two polar opposites here. In the F12024 game, you're braking very hard when you only need a lighter touch on the pedal and in iRacing you're very light and early on the brakes when you need to brake harder. Try to find some common ground here with the help of the reference laps.
If the car has ABS, you can rely on it a little to avoid locking the wheels. If it doesn't, test the grip limit of the tyres during your practice sessions and work around that on the races.
Good luck!

Extra - This is always an interesting corner complex to dive deeper into, it provides some good insight on the driver's abilities and also gives you some good base skills that can be used on other tracks.
On the given example, you want to carry some good exit speed from the last corner due to the following straight and due to the characteristics of the MX-5. To do that, you need to adjust your line on the exit form the first corner, so you can have a wider entry into the last one. There are a couple of lines you can take on that first corner: you can have a wide entry and a late apex (like the reference lap does), or you can do a double apex, hit an early apex first, let the car run wide and then another apex on the corner exit while having a straighter line.
The important thing here is that you need to avoid going too wide on the exit of the first corner, so you can have a wide entry into the second corner and carry a lot of exit speed there.

----------------------

11/11/2024
Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - A bit more adjustment is needed here. You frequently shift into a gear that's too low for the corner, which costs you time. Reflect on the gear choices from the reference lap and experiment with maintaining control in those gears. This should help improve your segment times. Example

----------------------

29/10/2024
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - You are often lifting off in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
