Previous Instructor Notes

19/06/2026
Nicely done, you show that consistency is there. Work on this more with more longer sessions of 20+ laps as ones concentration sometimes affects ones consistency in these longer sessions. This skill is important as you work towards your second Combination Assessment.

Extra -

You are a bit late coming back on throttle, causing your speed to be a bit lower than optimal before the braking point at Turn 2, and costing you a bit of time as a result. The earlier you can get back on throttle, the more speed you can carry on the exit, gaining you time. Try get back on throttle quicker so you can maintain a higher minimum speed, gaining you more time overall. - Example

----------------------

06/06/2026
Your racing lines are starting to look like you know what you are doing. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are a few corners where you are still entering too tight, which costs you minimum speed. Lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra -

You are carrying too much speed approaching the apex of the corner, which compromises your run on the exit as a result, as you are unable to get back on throttle as quickly as you could be, giving you a lower exit speed due to this. Try slow the car down a bit more for the corner entry, allowing you to maintain a higher minimum speed and get back on throttle earlier on exit, gaining you more time overall. - Example

----------------------

25/05/2026
Good control through the chicanes. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line is good and your mid chicane acceleration is great. Also try to be quicker getting on the throttle on the exits (not just in chicanes). Remember gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds.

Extra -

You are braking with a bit too much pressure, causing your speed to be a bit lower than optimal at the apex of the chicane and costing you time on the exit and for the remainder of the straight. As this is the last braking point and the second of the lap is fully flat out, the higher the speed carried on exit, the better it is for your overall lap time. Try braking with a bit less pressure so you can carry more speed through the chicane, maintaining a higher minimum speed, and gaining you more time overall as a result. - Example

A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra -

You braked too late in the final corner at Interlagos, which reduced your speed significantly and costed you a lot of time. Try and adjust your braking to an earlier braking point to avoid overshooting the corner, and maintain a higher minimum speed through the corner. - Example

Hi apologise for the delay. Super close but we need to adjust a few things before we move on. Don't worry though, these combniation assessments are some of the hardest plans in the course, it's usual for them to take a couple tries.

Extra -

You can use a little more brake pressure to help slow the car down more, this will mean you don't go as wide on corner exit. Sometimes you were a little deep.
You want to downshift a bit earlier. Currently you are downshifting just before you get back on throttle. This can upset the balance of the car.
EXAMPLE - both points are shown here

----------------------

13/02/2026
Overall performance in this assessment did not meet the required standard to progress to the next training plan. There were inconsistencies across the lap that affected your overall pace and control. While some sections showed potential, the combination of skills needs further refinement to reach the necessary consistency. Keep practicing with focused sessions, review your telemetry for patterns, and build toward greater reliability lap after lap. With continued effort, you'll be ready to advance soon.

Extra -

You're rolling onto the throttle prematurely, leading to front-end push and requiring you to ease off. Delay the initial application slightly, then be bolder and smoother as you squeeze on the power. Example

----------------------

29/01/2026
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra -

You are often lifting off too much in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to maintain less of a liftt in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

Please do more laps. You need between 30 to 50 to really see how you're doing. Our trainers are here to help whenever. Good luck and have fun out there!

Extra - One area to target is improving your minimum speed in corners, which relies heavily on braking later and staying committed to the throttle through the turn. This will tighten the gap in your corner exit performance. For instance, experimenting with a slightly later braking zone can unlock more consistent speed retention. Example

Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins.

Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Very nice.  Your time on this track is impressive. Working up through the gears rapidly on the last segment is working well for you. Just be a little wary about too many gear changes. If you hadn't of dropped in first, then second and back to first here, could this have been even quicker? - example

----------------------

15/05/2025
There needs to be a little more speed and urgency in your braking. Sometimes you nail it but on too many occasions there is too much hesitancy. You are braking a little earlier than the reference lap and getting to 100% braking later. Try to press the brake pedal quicker whilst doing your best to maintain traction. Also, try to avoid resting on the brake pedal before fully committing to the braking phase.

Practice is needed but it is a skill that is relatively easy to view and adapt to.

Extra - It is very important that when you are working on one technique that you don't let the other ones slip. You are braking too early due to not applying enough braking power and as you can see in the Diff to Ref this is affecting your segment times. This has also meant you have dropped 2 gears too low due to the speed you are carrying through the corner - example

Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - It looks like your steering angle is quite low compared to the reference driver. You might not quite be on the limit of grip - the optimal slip angle. Try to turn the wheel a little more to find the peak grip - but don't go over it. Example

06/03/2025
You recorded mostly race sessions and too few laps in time trial or practice sessions. Unfortunately, we can't make an accurate assessment from race sessions due to the many variables that can affect your driving during a race and many of those variables can't be seen through the telemetry, which might lead to wrong assessments. Please try to record at least 20 laps on practice or time trial sessions for us to make a propper assessment. Thank you!

Extra - From your short time trial sessions, your apexes are looking quite good, however on your race sessions, you're have missed a couple - example -. That might of course be due to the presence of other cars around you.
Another thing to note is that you can use more of the track's width in a few corners, mainly on the entry. The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. To do that, you need to stay right on the edge of the track on the approach to the corner, stay wide until you reach a good turn-in point, then aim for the apex. On the exit the goal is usually the same: start accelerating near the apex and aim to go as wide as you can without going over the track limits. Don't be afraid to try to get on the kerbs, you can gain a lot of time by using them! This way, you'll also be able to brake later and also be more consistent with hitting apexes - Example

Sometimes, you'll hit the perfect line through a corner—clean, sharp, with a strong exit. But there's often more speed to be found by hugging the apex even tighter. Start by taking a wide approach at the entry curb, focusing on your apex timing (be it early or late), then accelerate out in a way that utilizes the entire width of the track. As you accumulate more laps, this technique will become second nature. Once you've got consistency down, you can make small tweaks to cut down your lap times even more.

Extra - Your car's speed through the corner suffers because you're not hugging the apex closely. Remember to leverage the full width of the track right from the entry, through the apex, and as you exit, particularly where your car feels stable. Example

----------------------

23/11/2024
Unfortunately, you only had 8 laps that were not recorded on race sessions. We can't make a good assessment out of race sessions due to the numerous unpredictable variables that can affect your driving and we can't always distinguish them from mistakes that you might make.
Please drive more practice and time trial sessions so we can make a more accurate assessment.

Extra - From the sessions that we analysed, it appears that you're doing quite well, so keep up the good work!

This is the segment where you're losing the most time, you go a bit too wide on the corner exit and end up losing a bit of time due to the change of direction into the next corner. Try to point the car a bit less towards the outside of the track for a better entry into that right-hander.

----------------------

08/11/2024
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - It looks like your steering angle is quite low compared to the reference driver. You might not quite be on the limit of grip - the optimal slip angle. Try to turn the wheel a little more to find the peak grip - but don't go over it. Example

26/10/2024
Cheers for the laps. In general you are braking too early in most corners. However, despite this there are times where you still go wide in the corner by being too fast at the apex. This is because you do not always use the full potential of the brakes early on to slow the car when it has the most downforce. Try some more laps and compare yourself to the reference. The braking is the key as all other aspects will branch off this if you get into the right place on corner entry and everything else will improve with it.

Extra - The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. To do that, you need to stay right on the edge of the track on the approach to the corner, stay wide until you reach a good turn-in point, then aim for the apex. Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
