Instructor Notes

23/08/2023 - 26/08/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

We have found that users are getting better results when they move to the fortnightly training instead of the weekly training. All new users that sign up to the Premium membership are doing this and if you'd like to as well just drop keith@tracktitan.io a quick note and he'll make a note of it. This week there was also too few laps to do an assessment of your current assignment.

Extra - Try to avoid such large lifts, work on 25%, 50%, 75% lifts if necessary, remember it isn't all on or all off - example

---------------------

09/08/2023
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track. You stay wide on the entry, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. It is this exit that you struggle with at the moment. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - Watch out for these dips. These are common when you haven't managed to drive many laps in the week. Practice produces consistency and consistency brings your lap times down. Good luck and looking forward to seeing how you get on - example

Good control through the chicane. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line is good and your mid chicane acceleration is great. Also try to be quicker getting on the throttle on the exits (not just in chicanes). Remember gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds and always plan for the exit of the corner. Going too deep into the corner will be a time drain.

Extra -Good skills, you turned in just a little too early which tightened the angle a bit which wasn't optimal, fine adjustments here but there is a tenth to be found - example

---------------------

07/06/2023
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. There are a number of times that your gear choice could be improved. Also, work on your braking power on fast corners. A quick dab doesn't have to be 30-40% it could be 10-20%, work out what is possible and strive for consistency. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - Try to keep your steering angle as minimal as possible, any excess creates more of a struggle for your tyres to apply their grip to acceleration - example

Your gear choices were very good. Most of the time you chose the right gear. Continue to do this as you learn new tracks. Just remember that during the course of a long race there is the possibility that you might be to adjust your choice of gear due to tire wear, weather or fuel load.

So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra - Small differences in your time to get to 100% throttle can be the difference of one to two tenths. Review your telemetry to see if the issue was a once off or more habitual - example---------------------

05/04/2023
Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins.

Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Hesitation at the apex is normal. Try to overcome this by practicing your acceleration, be relentless and push through. It might take a few times practicing the same corner before the become confident to push to 100% consistently.

---------------------

29/03/2023

Nice but work on your consistency, drop your pace a little and try to do laps all within 1.5 secs of each other. Only when this is working for a few laps should you try and increase your speed. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.

Extra - Watch your gear choice, avoid dropping too low this will affect your tyres and make it much harder to accelerate out of the corners - example

This was a mixed week, at times you make some great racing lines but it is also inconsistent. Look to really widen the track wherever possible. Test the entry kerb and feel if you can get enough traction on it. If not, just move over a little and brake hard on the asphalt. Your turn in will help you find the apex successfully. Again don't be scared to use (or at least) test each apex kerb.

As described in the assigned task, hitting the apex can smooth out the corner to it's maximum potential, by doing this you'll be able to maintain as much speed as possible, as the car won't fighting as much against lateral forces. With a little more focused practice, you'll have this technique under control.

We are ready to assess your racing line practice.

As before the next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and lets keep up with the training progress😊
-------------------

Very nicely done, you nailed most of your braking points.  There are a number of areas over the coming weeks where you'll see that time can be improved but it is important to understand how critical getting a good braking point is to achieve faster lap times.

It was also noted that you never get about 97.5% braking, this isn't a big problem but it is worth fixing, either by adding a little deadzone to the top of your braking or check that there isn't a mechanical fault.

Enjoy your training over the next week and don't be afraid to test those kerbs to get a tight line!

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Each week you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls each week and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, each week you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, on this day you'll be able to see your feedback from the instructors, your score for the assigned task and your progress.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this skill as much as you can in the next seven days, remember referring back to the reference lap will help you learn how early you need to break for each corner. In general you braking points are usually early, again this relates to how consistency is vital. Try to practice sets of 5 laps at at time and then concentrate on remembering each and every braking point.

Also, please note that 'My Team' doesn't display your recorded sessions correctly. This is an issue with how the data is sent from Codemasters. Therefore, please use a standard F1 car for analysis.

Enjoy the training.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
