Instructor Notes

15/03/2026 - 20/08/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

Sorry for the delay on the update.
The fundamental skills that you are learning at the moment have been relatively good, you have taken a lot on board. You are sometimes braking a bit too early though which means you are coming off the high speeds too early, this is affecting your lap times, try to get to 100% brake pressure quicker as slowing your car down rapidly means more time at higher speeds on the straights.
Also, braking points and brake pressure come hand in hand, so you're sometimes braking too hard in faster corners.
Overall, your apexes and gear choices were very good, so well done!
Later assessments will push this skill more but the earlier it starts to click the faster you'll get.

Extra - Your trail braking can improve a bit (example). Focusing on gradually releasing the brakes as you turn into the corner is crucial to keep the car balanced and to be more efficient on the brakes. The first hit on the pedal needs to be sharp, you're doing that well, but you need to smoothly release the brakes as you increase the steering angle all the way to the apex. That is the best way to carry a lot of speed at the corner entry, without losing grip at the front, while also being able to slow down for the apex.

----------------------

13/02/2026
It is a hard task to bring all these skills together at the same time. Keep up the work, it is worth persevering. By concentrating on the important of the braking point and power will make it possible to turn your attention more to the throttle. It is at this point that you'll see the biggest improvements in your times. The braking points and apex work suffered in this combination assessment. Concentrate on these two areas to move onto the next training plan.

Extra - The line is a touch too conservative through the middle of the corner, costing exit momentum. Get comfortable pushing to the edges of the track on turn-in, clipping the apex closer, and tracking out fully when the car is stable. Example

----------------------

30/01/2026
This week the braking points and apex work slipped a bit, so focus on tightening up those two areas before moving on to the next training stage. Once you’ve nailed the braking points and power delivery, you’ll free up more attention for throttle control—and that’s when you’ll see the biggest gains in your times. Pulling all these skills together isn’t easy, but stick with it; the payoff is worth the effort.

Extra - There are a few segments where you're turning too early into the corners, that means the car gets pushed out wide earlier, you'll have to delay getting on the throttle and your speed will be slower at the corner exit (example). Finding the right turn-in point is not always easy, but typically you need to point the car towards a good and straighter exit line while also being able to start accelerating close to the apex and quickly make it to full throttle.Checking your telemetry during and after a practice session can also be very helpful to see where you can make alight adjustments to your racing line. Also keep in mind that the turn-in point can vary according to the car's setup and the driver's preferred driving style, but they all should be around the same area. Example

----------------------

17/01/2026
Overall performance in this assessment did not meet the required standard to progress to the next training plan. There were inconsistencies across the lap that affected your overall pace and control. While some sections showed potential, the combination of skills needs further refinement to reach the necessary consistency. Keep practicing with focused sessions, review your telemetry for patterns, and build toward greater reliability lap after lap. With continued effort, you'll be ready to advance soon.

Extra - Brake harder and faster even on the fast corners, try a quick dab instead of your currently longer ease on and off, test these two styles. Example

----------------------

04/01/2026
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

---------------------

19/12/2025
Good job with your brake inputs. There are a few places we can work on in the next few weeks with regards to trail braking and we can fine tune your brake pressure a little. Well done and good luck with the next assingment.

Extra - Sometimes, it's better to brake a bit earlier with less pressure, but for longer. This allows for better weight transfer and avoids unsettling the car. There were a few corners like this but you were braking heavily and quickly. You found a bit of time under braking but lost time in the corner. Try to copy the reference laps brake shape for a bit and see how you get on. - example

----------------------

05/12/2025
Good job with your apexes. There are a few places we can work on over time, but this is good for now. In general, you are hitting your apexes a bit too late. This can be useful to get a better exit out of a hairpin, but you are losing time in most corners by doing this.

Extra - It’s great to see you trying lots of car/track combos! For coaching/improving it would be better of you could focus on 1 or 2 car/track combos at a time. We’ll be able to give you better advice and you’ll improve faster from familiarity and then be able to transfer those skills onto other cars and track.

Have a look at your steering inputs. Often, you are turning the wheel too much. Try to reduce your inputs by 20-30 degrees to avoid understeer. Understeer is when the front tyres lose grip before the rear tyres, which results in the car steering less than optimal. This can causes the tyres to wear faster and increase tyre temps (making the tyre too hot), you'll also have to go slower through corners to make it around.

----------------------

22/11/2025
Finding the fastest way through a corner isn’t always about sticking to the line that feels “just right.” Sometimes, pushing closer to the apex unlocks hidden speed. Imagine starting wide, aiming your entry toward the curb, and adjusting when you clip the apex—earlier or later, depending on the turn’s demands. On the exit, let the car drift naturally across the track, using every inch of space. Over time, these adjustments become automatic, and once they do, you can fine-tune your approach to shave off even more time.

Extra - You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

----------------------

10/11/2025
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! đŸ’Ș

Extra - By not aiming for the sharpest possible apex, you're losing precious speed mid-corner. It's crucial to make use of every bit of track space available at the entry, apex, and exit points where your vehicle maintains stability. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track đŸ’Ș

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
