You still need to improve in this area, there are some good segments, but you're often having to lift off the throttle slightly at the corner exits to avoid going wide. Try not to drive at 100% aggression. Back off a little and let the car coast on the apex until you get the feeling of pressing the throttle pedal smoothly and in one single movement at the corner exit.
This assignment really isn't about how fast you are on the throttle, it's really about finding some good timing to avoid lifting off on the exit and finding some confidence to take some corners flat out!
Keep up the good work and good luck!

Extra - You often need to use more track, mainly at the corner entry (example). Using more track will allow you to carry more speed through the corners and also find more consistency in your driving. A wider corner entry will also help you point the car towards a straighter exit, allowing you to accelerate earlier and more effectively, which helps you improve your performance on your current assignment.

This is still an hard area for you and more practice is needed. Slow your speed down a little (you can coast mid corner to gently slow your car) and then ensure that when you accelerate it is smooth without lifting off the throttle at all. When you have mastered this as a slower speed and get the feeling for a continual smooth acceleration then you can move back up to full race pace and try to control your acceleration again.

Extra - Try not to lift off way before you brake, this lag time is time you could still be accelerating, instead you are coasting. Unless you are saving fuel for a race stint there is no real benefit to this strategy - certainly not in lap time. Example

You still need to improve here as you're on and off the throttle quite often. Take a good look at this corner, here you take a lot of time on the transition from full throttle onto the brakes. By the time you hit the brakes, the reference lap has already released the brakes and is preparing the corner exit. By this time, you're carrying too much speed into the corner, which then makes your throttle very inconsistent on the exit (and will also give you a slow exit).
This shows how the approach to a corner will affect its exit. We can see from other segments that you can be smooth on the throttle, but are too often being set back by a bad approach.
You'll have more info on how to approach these issues further below, so that you can hopefully make some improvements and show us how smooth you can really be on the throttle!

Extra - You really do need to work on your transition from full throttle to full brakes. Your braking points are often good, but the biggest issue is that you're lifting off the throttle a lot earlier and also quite slowly.
You're currently at a point in your training where details like these start being costly and will set you back on the following assignments.
Really focus on getting that transition as quick as possible, quickly release the throttle and immediately get on the brakes. Remember that the first attack on the brakes needs to be quite aggressive, then you need to be smooth on the release - Example.
If you feel the need to, take another look at the B2 - Braking - Power and Speed assignment.

----------------------

24/12/2024
This is still an hard area for you and more practice is needed. Slow your speed down a little (you can coast mid corner to gently slow your car) and then ensure that when you accelerate it is smooth without lifting off the throttle at all. When you have mastered this as a slower speed and get the feeling for a continual smooth acceleration then you can move back up to full race pace and try to control your acceleration again.

Extra - You've made good progress, but it's important to address your tendency to brake early. While being cautious is understandable, braking too early can lead to a loss of momentum, affecting your overall lap time. To optimise your performance, try to identify braking points that allow you to carry more speed into the corners. Gradually delay your braking to find the sweet spot where you're slowing down just enough without sacrificing speed. With practice, you'll find the right balance and see noticeable improvements in your lap times. Keep refining your technique—you've got this! Example

Your acceleration is still looking very inconsistent. Really avoid accelerating before the apex and try to do it when you're absolutely sure you're going to make it all the way through without lifting. It's common to sometimes overestimate how much grip the car has, so try to be considerate of that. Accelerate earlier as you feel more confident, but remember to avoid it before the apex.

Extra - You need to be quicker on the transition from full throttle to full brakes. In almost every corner, you were releasing the throttle, wait a little and then get on the brakes. It can be difficult in cars with a manual gearbox, but you need to make the transition as quickly as possible, if you don't need to change gears, use your left foot to brake too. Here's a good example for you to take into account.
If you feel the need to, re-read the B2 - Braking - Power and Speed assignment.

Extra - Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track.Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Now you only need to stay under that limit. Example

Practice hard and be extremely conscious of when you are lifting off the throttle (usually on corner exit). Try not to drive at 100% aggression. Back off a little until you get the feeling of pressing the throttle pedal in one direction throughout the corner exit. This is all about not lifting off the throttle.

Extra - There were a few cases where you were lifting off the throttle on the exit of the corner, such as in this example. The reference lap isn't a great comparison in this case, as this isn't a very common car/track combination, but you lifted off the throttle a few times before getting to 100%, which not only gives you a worse exit, but it can also unsettle the car, especially through a fast corner like this one.

----------------------

05/08/2024
This is always going to be a tricky skill to learn and this week you nailed it fantastic job, textbook! When you got 'in the groove' you were churning out lap after lap. Both at speed and also very consistently. As with all these plans and skills try to remember and build on it for the next assignment.

Extra - Your throttle work needs to be smoother. Sometimes as you approach the apex you are already on the throttle, this can be too early and causing you to hesitate, try a few laps were you wait for the apex then really go for the acceleration - example

----------------------

23/07/2024
Your racing lines are starting to look like you are understanding. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are still a few corners where you are entering too tight and exiting too narrow, which costs you minimum speed. It's just about a pass but lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra - In this example you lift off thottle a fair bit earlier than the point where you brake. Unless you are fuel saving you want to minimise this "coast time". Also you miss the apex slightly and it forces you to rotate the car a little more sharply - slowing you down. Example

----------------------

08/07/2024
Please can you set more representative lap times on non-oval tracks? It's not possible for us to assess your driving properly based on only 2 or 3 lap stints that are 20 seconds slower than a normal lap.

----------------------

25/06/2024
There are still improvements needed. Entry kerb - apex kerb - exit kerb as a general rule will show you where you are able to use more track to test getting the car through the corners at a higher speed. Use the kerb, you don't have to heavily ride it, just brush against them to get the feeling of how wide you can go. It is mainly your exit of the corner where you just need to be slightly wider. Take a marker from the car and try and align yourself to the absolute limits of the track width.

Extra - Here's an example of where your racing line could improve. In this case, you started drifting towards the apex too early which tightened your entry to the corner. You then didn't use as much track as possible on the exit, meaning you couldn't carry as much speed through the exit of the corner, affecting your run down the next straight. Using all the track might seem like a small thing, but it makes a very big difference to lap times.

----------------------

10/06/2024
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track. Stay wide on the entry, don't drift towards the apex, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - We noticed you might be running an older version of the Track Titan logger. Please follow this link if you need help running the update https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger otherwise if you are on the latest version please contact keith@tracktitan.io and he'll get this working for you.

----------------------

27/05/2024
All of your laps have been on oval tracks, where it's difficult to judge an assignment like this. Could you please do some more laps on non-oval tracks so we can get an idea of where you are on this task?

----------------------

13/05/2024
Your racing lines still aren't taking full advantage of the track. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - Here's an example of a corner where you can use more track. In this case, you didn't use enough of the track on the entry to the corner, which essentially meant you made the corner tighter for yourself. This means you have to slow down more to be able to make the corner without leaving the track, which loses you time.

----------------------

29/04/2024
There aren't enough laps on non-oval tracks to assess your racing line. Please drive some laps on some other, non-oval tracks.

----------------------

16/04/2024
We couldn't make a good assessment from your sessions. All we had to analyse was a practice session on an oval track and a few single lap sessions on Assetto Corsa with not a lot of good data available. We'll work on fixing these AC reference laps so you can other users can used them. In the meantime, please drive on a few different tracks so we can make a good assessment. Thank you!

----------------------

01/04/2024
We need you to drive a few more laps for us to make a good assessment out of your practice sessions. We usually need about 30 to 50 to make sure we're getting it right. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Extra - From your short session on the Nurburgring GP circuit, even though we don't have a reference lap, we can see that there are still a couple of places where you can use some more track. Here's an example of one of them.

Also, we noticed you might be running an older version of the Track Titan logger. Please follow this link if you need help running the update https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger

There are still improvements needed. Entry kerb - apex kerb - exit kerb as a general rule will show you where you are able to use more track to test getting the car through the corners at a higher speed. Take a marker from the car and try and align yourself to the absolute limits of the track width.

Extra - You can often brake harder. You're losing a bit of time on the braking zones by braking very early, but not with enough pressure. If you are afraid of locking the brakes, take a bit of time and a few laps to test the grip limit of the tyres and how easily the wheels lock.
Here's an example for you to take a look at.

----------------------

04/03/2024
You only did a few laps in non-oval tracks, so we can't really make a good assessment from your sessions. Please drive a few more laps in different tracks for us to take a look at.

Extra - From your shorter sessions, your lines are looking good in some corners, but you can still use more track in some others (example). Focus on getting really close to the edge especially on the corner entry. That is halfway to having a great exit too!

----------------------

19/02/2024
Good control through the chicane. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line is good and your mid chicane acceleration is great. Also try to be quicker getting on the throttle in the middle of the chicane. Remember gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds.

Extra - You can take a few corners in a higher gear. It will help you carry more speed through them and also have a more controlled exit.
Here are a couple of examples for you to take into account - Example 1 | Example 2

----------------------

06/02/2024
Some nice improvements and a good pass, well done! Do keep in mind that you can still work a bit more on those brake pressures, but it is something you will perfect with time and practice throughout your training.

Extra - There were a few situations where you could have used more track on corner entry. The goal is to go from entry kerb, to apex, to exit kerb and to use as much of the track's width as possible to make the corner wider and carry more speed through it. Here's an example for you to take into account.

----------------------

22/01/2024
There are quite a few things that you can improve, but your main focus should be on your braking. Your speed on the brake pedal can improve a bit and by fixing that you'll be more consistent with your braking points and will also hit apexes more consistently. These are the three things that you need to improve the most.

Extra - You're usually taking too much time between letting go of the throttle and pressing the brake. You want to do this movement as quickly as possible because you're losing speed when you could still be accelerating.
Here's an example for you to take into account.

----------------------

10/01/2024
Well done! A good effort. Sometimes you're a gear too high, so keep that in mind for the future. Don't forget to check the telemetry if you have any doubts about gear choice.
So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra - In sections like this one, it's important to plan ahead of time how you're going to exit the first corner in order to have a better entry into the second one and then have a fast exit out of the section. In your case, you carried a bit too much speed into the first corner and then lost more time preparing the car for the second corner.
You show some difficulty in some similar sections, so try to focus on this a bit. Mugello is a good track to practice this.

----------------------

26/12/2023
Great lap times again. You are producing exciting results. Your braking is very good, often you braking a little less i.e. not hitting 100% pressure compared to the reference lap. Enjoy your next training session, this should be straight forward for you but remember to study the telemetry to find any flaws.

Extra - An important tip for Assetto Corsa Competizione - you can brake much harder than what you're doing. You can really rely on the ABS of the cars so you can go all the way to 100% without worrying about locking the wheels. Just don't forget to trial brake properly when you enter a corner - example.

----------------------

12/12/2023
Unfortunately, you only drove in tracks that were not supported by Track Titan. We recommend, for Assetto Corsa, the Kunos car/track combos. This way, we're able to get the most reliable information from your sessions. Thank you and good luck in practice!

Extra - No assessment

---------------------

27/11/2023
We are ready to assess your practice sessions. Please provide us some more laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data, between 20-40 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).
The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😊‍

Extra - From some of your short sessions, we noticed that you can still be a bit quicker going from the brake to the throttle. Try focusing on that a bit more and it'll help you save some time.

---------------------

13/11/2023
There is a lot of inconsistency with your braking pressure. You're pressing and releasing the brakes a lot. That shows some hesitancy on the brakes, so try to get the braking point right and commit to it. When you reach the braking point hit the brake as quickly as possible (this is also something you're having difficulty with and that is an important part of this assignment).

Extra - A thing that we noticed a lot was that you took a lot of time to go from full throttle to hitting the brakes. When you reach a braking point, you need to slow the car down as effectively as possible. For that you need to go from accelerating to braking in a quick succession. The idea here is to press the brakes immediately after you release the throttle. Of course that is almost humanely impossible, but we can get pretty close.

If you're not doing it already, brake with your left foot. It will help reducing the transition time by a lot. You can also slightly overlap the throttle and the brake to make sure you avoid coasting, although this is not very recommended. Practice this as much as you can. Quickly release the throttle with the right foot and then hit the brake.

Here's an example for you to compare your data.

---------------------

30/10/2023
Fantastic racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apex's. Practice trying to take a slightly later apex and see how this affects your deltas. Also have in the back of your mind the angle / direction of the car as you take the apex. The more it is facing in the direction of the coming straight the quicker you'll be able to effectively get on the throttle. Your throttle engagement should generally be within two car lengths of your apex.

Extra - There are a few occasions where you're being very aggressive on the throttle while exiting the corners. This can be dangerous as it can cause a lot of wheelspin. At the very least, you'll lose time due to the lack of traction and will have to lift off the pedal to avoid going wide; on the other hand, it greatly increases the chances of spinning while accelerating out of a corner.

Try to be a bit smoother on the throttle. Be patient and remember that smoother is always faster!

Here's an example for you to take a look at.

16/10/2023
Very nice, your braking points are good most of the time. The main issue is that you are braking a little early because you aren't braking hard enough. Check the telemetry and you'll see where a small change will help. Important! Be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily.

Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra -

Here is an example of how braking too gently is giving you slower segments. Practice on the slow corners (tight corners) and you get the basics sorted - example

25/09/2023
Unfortunately, the only session from where we could extract some good data was a race session and we can't really assess your driving from race sessions, since there are too many unpredictable variables in races. So please record some practice or time attack sessions for us to assess. Thank you!

----------------------

18/09/2023
Your braking points were sometimes really good but there was too much inconsistency. Try driving just a little slower and really learning and nailing those braking points. Also, it would be a idea to continue breaking your sessions up into sets of about 8-12 laps and then referring back to the reference lap in between.

Good luck and you'll be onto the next racing skill.

Extra -There are sections where you are braking where it is possible to go 'full gas'. Also try to work on your racing line as there is width that should be used. Anytime you are turning the wheel you are essentially driving slower than the cars capabilities. Using the width will reduce the amount of steering motion - example

28/08/2023
There were some good segments but unfortunately too many missed braking points. Practice trying to be consistent. This is best done by driving a little slower than your maximum. Remember your braking points and try to repeat for 3 laps in a row, always trying to be within a second and a half of the lap before. Only when you achieve this try going a little faster. Repeat his process for many laps but don't forget to put back to the analysis to make sure you aren't making any big mistakes.  Brake hard and fast, never rest your foot on the brake before committing to the braking point.Good luck and I'm sure with enough laps and the advice above you'll be passing this driving skill.

Extra - You can brake harder in quite a few corners. When approaching a corner, brake hard fast, then when you start turning into it, you should smoothly lift off the brake to keep the car balanced. Usually you're good on this last part, but you could benefit from braking a bit harder. Here are a few examples for you to analyse - Example 1 | Example 2 | Example 3

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Each fortnight you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls each fortnight and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, each fortnight you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, on this day you'll be able to see your feedback from the instructors (it could be the next day aswell), your score for the assigned task and your progress.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed throughout the fortnight. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know.

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
