Previous Instructor Notes

11/08/2026
Your consistency of reaching 100% throttle as quickly as the reference lap was very good. You have mastered a technique here that many drivers find hard. Keep working through the items on the Previous Plans list that you struggle with most and you'll be knocking even more time off your laps.

Extra -

You are braking with too much pressure, causing your speed to drop significantly more than optimal and cost you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try and brake with less pressure into the corner, so you can carry more speed into the chicane, gaining you more time overall due to maintaining a higher minimum speed. - Example

----------------------

27/07/2026
A nice improvement here. You show a smoother movement on the majority of segments. Just be aware that it is very easy to slip on this area. That smoothness of steering (as well as braking and throttle) will help you maintain a balance / weighted car. This combined with ensuring your use the full width of the track might help shave another few tenths off your time.

Extra -

You are braking too early, causing your speed to drop significantly earlier than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try adjusting to a later braking point so you can carry more speed under braking, gaining you more time overall due to this. - Example

----------------------

16/07/2026
Great use of trail braking, by releasing the brake slowly to help rotate the car around sharper hairpins and get back on the throttle smoothly. This will help shave tenths off your time as you are setting yourself up well for the corner exit. Try also to be a little flexible about the power of your braking, remember of faster corners you can avoid braking all the way to 100%.

Extra -

You are holding the brakes for too long, causing your speed to drop more than optimal and costing you a significant amount of time as a result. This also affects your exit and the following straight. Try and release the brakes quicker so you can maintain a higher minimum speed, giving you a higher exit speed for the straight, gaining you more time overall. - Example

You've shown a good understanding off the skill you've learnt over the past couple weeks. Good job. We will move onto the next skill now. Good luck and have fun!

Extra -

Have a look at your steering inputs. Often, you are turning the wheel too much. Try to reduce your inputs by 20-30 degrees to avoid understeer. Understeer is when the front tyres lose grip before the rear tyres, which results in the car steering less than optimal. This can cause the tyres to wear faster and increase tyre temps (making the tyre too hot), you'll also have to go slower through corners to make it around. - example

----------------------

10/03/2026
Really sorry for the delay on the update.
This is a pass. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. There are a couple of hesitations but in general you are on the right track. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off.

Extra -

When you have a shallower bend on the track followed by a sharp corner, you need to line up your car for the best line possible through the tighter corner.
Taking a look at this example, you have a full throttle left-hand side bend quickly followed by an almost 90 degree righ-hand corner. To be faster through the segment overall, you need to exit the first bend so that the car is pointing as straight as possible once you need to hit the brakes, while also taking using the track's width into account.
Braking while turning will reduce the amount of grip available to slow the car down. To ensure all of the tyres' grip is used to brake, the wheels need to be pointing straight. That's why your racing line in that bend is so important.
During your practice sessions, take all of this into account and try to adjust your racing line slightly to see how each change affects your delta.

----------------------

23/02/2026
Impressively consistent race times, showcasing your dedication and skill. This consistent performance is a crucial asset as you prepare for your upcoming Combination Assessment. Keep up the great work, it's evident that you're on the right track towards achieving your goals.

Extra -

You often accelerate too late and that cost you a lot of time. You aren't as fast to 100% with your throttle which is affecting your top speed on the subsequent straight. Practice a fast but smooth acceleration all the way to 100% throttle using as much of the track exit as available so that you can have as straight a wheel as possible. This will allow the car to use most of it's power for forward acceleration. Example

----------------------

10/02/2026
Really sorry for the delay on the update.
This is a bit of a close pass, but still a pass nonetheless, well done! Your width when approaching a corner is usually great, but you can still use more track at the corner exit. Pointing the car in the right direction at the apex and using the whole width of the track are essential for a fast corner exit, so try to push the track limits further in the future.
Good job and we're looking forward to seeing how you perform on your next assignment!

Extra -

We noticed some inconsistencies with your trail braking, sometimes you show very good control of the brakes while entering the corner, but there are still plenty of segments where you're releasing the brakes too abruptly (example). Remember to be smooth on the brakes, begin releasing the pedal as soon as you turn into the corner and continue doing that in a smooth, gradual motion as you increase the steering angle until you hit the apex.
Keep practising and you'll get there in no time! Good luck!

You've got a solid foundation with your lines, though fine-tuning you could make them even sharper. Braking is on point, but there's potential in the chicanes for better acceleration. Aim for quick spurts of speed where you can, keeping in mind that how you exit these sections defines your success. When possible, consider only partially lifting off the throttle instead of fully disengaging, perhaps by 30-50%. Above all, focus on your exit speed, as it's the key to better lap times.

Extra -

Here you go too wide in the first part of the complex. This makes the final turn much tighter and means you cannot accelerate out early enough. You lose time from this mistake. Compromise in corner complexes is key to the best overall time. Example

----------------------

12/01/2026
When it comes to the chicanes in particular there are some key areas we can look to improve. In particular you typically enter the corner quite a bit slower than you could do. When looking at the reference lap it is often because you are not committing and cutting the apexes as much as you could be, especially on the way in. Of course this is a fine balance but it looks like there is more on the table. The straighter the line you can get away with will allow you to carry the most speed through the back to back corners.

Extra -

Try to be less erratic with the throttle, smaller motions will help. This is tricky but when you ease off the throttle, you often take the throttle to 20-30% pressure. Try to use smaller movements to avoid slowing the car too much. Example

A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful and you were often braking just a little bit late. Secondly, you're hitting those apexes well, but sometimes you still have room to be tighter and use more kerb.
Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - In the chicanes at Monza, you're often pointing the car slightly towards the corner still before the turn-in point (Example 1 | Example 2). That's giving you a tighter entry, just slightly missing the apex and that's costing you precious speed especially in these tight chicanes.
Try to mimic the reference driver, you can see on the given example they stay wider all the way to the turn-in point and that allows them to have a straighter line, using the apex kerbs to gain some extra track width and speed. That straighter racing line through the chicane allows the driver to carry considerably more speed and accelerate earlier.

----------------------

17/11/2025
Good corner gear choices. Sometimes you are one gear higher than the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive whether you have the control dropping one gear lower. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times.
So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - You're sometimes using too much steering angle and then unwinding the wheel sharply at the corner exit (example).
Using too much steering angle will make the front tyres slide on the track, scrubbing off speed and causing understeer. That combined with sharp inputs will only enhance those consequences.
Try to stay smooth on the steering inputs, gently unwind the wheel as you accelerate out of a corner and try different amounts of steering. Once you the steering wheel feels lighter, you'll know where the grip limit is and have to stay under it. In ACC, GT3 cars often don't need more than 90 degrees of rotation for a hairpin, so you can use that as a reference point.
Good luck!

----------------------

04/11/2025
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - Here you go too wide on exit. Getting onto the exit kerb here both is the longer path but also gives you poor traction. Try your best to keep tighter and get the power down on the tarmac. Example

----------------------

15/10/2025
Very nice. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps, amazing work and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.

Extra -

We've observed that you could enhance your trail braking technique. Maintaining braking smoothness is key in racing to keeping the car balanced and maximising grip. You should apply the brakes sharply at first, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner, and continue this slow release until you hit the apex. Here's an example.

----------------------

29/09/2025
Finding the fastest way through a corner isn’t always about sticking to the line that feels “just right.” Sometimes, pushing closer to the apex unlocks hidden speed. Imagine starting wide, aiming your entry toward the curb, and adjusting when you clip the apex—earlier or later, depending on the turn’s demands. On the exit, let the car drift naturally across the track, using every inch of space. Over time, these adjustments become automatic, and once they do, you can fine-tune your approach to shave off even more time.

Extra - You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

----------------------

15/09/2025
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - The primary problem right now is that you're easing off the accelerator too early rather than accelerating fully to maximum throttle. Consider tweaking your racing path a bit—aiming for a tighter approach to the apex should make a big difference. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
