We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

A good combination assessment, well done! There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points, you were often braking too late at the Red Bull Ring. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Connected to that, there were also some instances where you were braking when you didn't need to.
Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.
On the next assignment, you'll work on chicanes, a common feature in many tracks where drivers manage to gain or lose plenty of time. Keep up the good work and good luck!

Extra - This segment is all about carrying the cars momentum. As you can see on the telemetry, the reference driver is only braking for the first corner in that segment and then avoiding using them in the "esses" that follow it. Braking in this segment can induce some weight shifts that influence how the car responds to your steering inputs, that's why modulating the throttle can be an advantage here. By avoiding using the brakes, the reference driver has a more planted and balanced car that allows them to conserve its momentum and achieving higher minimum speeds throughout the segment.
Lap by lap, try to use the brakes less and less to see how that technique affects your lap time. Another important thing to note: as you're doing this, make sure you open up the entry into the last corner a bit more and get the car pointing towards a good and fast exit. Good luck!

There were quite a few errors that need addressing. Firstly look closely at your gear choices, has there were times that you drop into too low a gear. This will be impacting your lap times significantly. Braking points were generally too early. Test the limit of the car, you are already trail braking so use this skill to brake later and trail brake to the apex. Enjoy the powerful brakes and trust its stopping power. A bit more practice, especially on your braking points and you'll be moving onto your next plan.

Extra - With the combination assessments the details from your previous (in this case) for plans are the most important aspect to work on. Take a look at this session of yours and you'll see where these mistakes are being made. Try to get more practice time in iRacing to really get used to the physics and handling of the cars you are driving - example

----------------------

02/05/2025
Please drive a track that is supported by the Track Titan Platform. There are plenty to choose from but unfortunately the ones you have been driving are not.

----------------------

18/04/2025
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

You've only recorded race sessions since your last turnover day. Unfortunately, we can't make a good assessment out of these sessions due to the many variables that can influence your driving during the race. Please record some more laps on practice or time trial sessions and we'll gladly make a better assessment. Thank you!

Extra - From your session, we noticed you could use more track in some segments. Notice how you missed the apex in this example, that is related to the way you approached the corner. The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. To do that, you need to stay right on the edge of the track on the approach to the corner, stay wide until you reach a good turn-in point, then aim for the apex. On the exit the goal is usually the same: start accelerating near the apex and aim to go as wide as you can without going over the track limits. Don't be afraid to try to get on the kerbs, you can gain a lot of time by using them!
We still have to take into account that this was a race session, so this might have been a defensive maneuver, or an overtake. Unfortunately, we can't tell from the data.

Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed.  The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.  Good luck and have fun on track. Extra - This extra dab on the brake needs to be avoided whenever possible, it is killing your exit speed and unsettling the car. Example

----------------------

30/01/2025
A bit more adjustment is needed here. You frequently shift into a gear that's too low for the corner, which costs you time. Reflect on the gear choices from the reference lap and experiment with maintaining control in those gears. This should help improve your segment times.

Extra - Try to be less erratic with the throttle, smaller motions will help. This is tricky but when you ease off the throttle, you often take the throttle to 20-30% pressure. Try to use smaller movements to avoid slowing the car too much. Example

----------------------

16/01/2025
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - By not aiming for the sharpest possible apex, you're losing precious speed mid-corner. It's crucial to make use of every bit of track space available at the entry, apex, and exit points where your vehicle maintains stability. Example

Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - We've observed that you could enhance your trail braking technique. Maintaining braking smoothness is key in racing to keeping the car balanced and maximising grip. You should apply the brakes sharply at first, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner, and continue this slow release until you hit the apex. Here's an example:

----------------------

05/12/2024
You're doing well, although there were a few instances where you just missed the mark. No worries though, it happens to the best of us! Something to keep in mind is that sometimes there are segments of the track where you don't need to brake at all. In those instances, simply lifting off the throttle can be enough to help you retain your speed and maintain control. Enjoy your apex work and don't be afraid to test the entry-apex-exit kerbs!

Extra - We noticed you're sometimes resting your foot on the brakes a little before fully committing to the braking point. Really try to avoid this because it will make you lose time before the braking zone and in extreme cases it can overheat your brakes. Work on being quicker in this transition and remember that the first hit on the brakes needs to be very quick - Example.

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
