Instructor Notes

09/07/2026 - 20/08/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive whether you have the control choosing a different gear. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times.
So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - Since we're on the subject of gearing, downshifitng late at the corner entry, like you're doing here, can be quite dangerous. Depending on the car, it can cause a sudden weight shift that destabilises the car, can also make the rear wheels lock as they suddenly need to change rotation speed on a lower gear. The MX-5 is very pitch sensitive and it's sequential gearbox is also a bit janky at times, so these two issues can occur quite easily when you least expect them.

A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are one gear off the reference lap, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Extra - You are often a gear higher than optimal through majority of the corners, meaning that you are unable to rotate the car as you potentially could with a lower gear, which allows the car to hook around a corner better. Your speed is too low for the higher gear and causes understeer, especially in slow speed corners. Have a look at the reference lap to have an idea of what gears to use for each corner, and see how much time you gain from being able to rotate the car better with a lower gear. - Example

----------------------

02/04/2026
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - Your biggest hurdle at present is lifting off the gas prematurely rather than flooring it to complete throttle. Try refining your trajectory slightly by taking a tighter line into the apex—that'll be a game-changer. Example

----------------------

20/03/2026
Could you please drive more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to get a read of how you are doing, even if you are not driving as part of a specific plan. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Hi, apologise for the delay. Super close to a pass but a little more work is needed before we move on. In general you are braking a little too early with too much pressure. This slows the car down more than it needs to to make it round the corner.

Extra - You aren't turning the steering wheel enough right now which means you're not maximising the tyres grip through corners. If you turn the wheel more (although not too much, otherwise you'll get understeer!) you can take some more speed into the corner. - example

----------------------

19/02/2026
Your braking is too inconsistent. Sometimes you are showing good technique and other times your braking strength is not where it needs to be for that particular corner. This leads to other mistakes in your driving. Try to improve your consistency for the next assessment so we can move past this stage.

Extra - Your throttle application is delaying your acceleration phase, impacting your straight-line speed. Maximise throttle input earlier to optimise top speed for the next straight. Focus on swift and seamless throttle control, utilising track space efficiently to maintain straight alignment for maximal power transfer and acceleration efficiency. Example

----------------------

05/02/2026
Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - Use the width of the track. Every opportunity to test the limits of the track should be used. There is room both on entry and exit to the corner to go wider. Example

----------------------

22/01/2026
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - You are often lifting off in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

----------------------

08/01/2026
Unfortunately, none of the car/track combos you drove had good reference laps, so we can't make a good assessment from those sessions. Please try to record a few different track/car combos, the Kunos content is often a safe choice even though Track Titan supports a lot of modded tracks.
We're really sorry about the inconvenience.
Good luck on your assignment!

Extra - Comparing your lap times at Barcelona with your theoretical best shows that you're losing quite a bit of time on track. There are a few missed apexes and corners where you're braking very early (example). Remember to carry the brakes deep into the corner like you're doing in the theoretical best lap.
This can also be a consequence of recording a race session, when you're racing against other cars you'll have to drive slower especially when you get closer to them. That's why we recommend recording mostly practice or time trial sessions so you can make sure you can extract all the potential from the car without other people slowing you down.

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
