Instructor Notes

09/10/2026
Decent use of trail braking, by releasing the brake slowly to help rotate the car around sharper hairpins and get back on the throttle smoothly. This will help shave tenths off your time as you are setting yourself up well for the corner exit. Try also to be a little flexible about the power of your braking, remember of faster corners you can avoid braking all the way to 100%. I would like to see you be a bit smoother with this technique as you are still a bit inconsistent.

Bonus Focus Point

You are braking too early, causing your speed to drop earlier than optimal and ends up costing you a significant amount of time as a result. Try and brake at a later point so you can carry more speed under braking, gaining you more time overall. - Example

As more skills are added to the combination assessments they naturally become harder. Essentially there are more areas where errors can be seen. You did an extremely good job last week and managed to pass. If you look back at your telemetry you'll be able to spot small improvements that are needed. For example, sometimes just a slight hesitation on the throttle as you accelerate or missing a tight apex.

Extra -

You are braking with too much pressure, causing your speed to drop significantly more than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try braking with less pressure so you can carry more speed through the corner and gain more time overall due to maintaining a higher minimum speed. - Example

‍

----------------------

11/09/2026
Please do more laps. You need between 30 to 50 to really see how you're doing. Our trainers are here to help whenever. Good luck and have fun out there!

Extra -

Try to be less erratic with the steering, smaller motions will help. This is tricky but when you unwind the steering, you often fight the car too much which can lead to poor exits and bad control. Try to use smaller movements to avoid swaying the car too much. Example

‍

----------------------

02/09/2026
This is a pass. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. There are a few hesitations but in general you are on the right track. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off.

Extra -

You're quite often letting the car drift slightly towards the corner, giving you a tighter entry and therefore slowing you down - Example 1 | Example 2. Try to brake in as much of a straight line as possible, maximizing the car's braking performance and enabling you to take a wider entry into the corner, increasing its radius, causing you to be able to carry more speed through it. Keep up the good work and good luck!

----------------------

15/08/2026
Nicely done, you show that consistency is there. Work on this more with more longer sessions of 20+ laps as ones concentration sometimes affects ones consistency in these longer sessions. This skill is important as you work towards your second Combination Assessment.

Extra -

You are a bit too slow getting back on the throttle when exiting corners, costing you a considerable amount of time as your exit speed is significantly compromised. Try and get back onto throttle quicker so you can carry a higher exit speed out of the corner, gaining you more time overall as a result. - Example

‍

----------------------

01/08/2026
Your racing lines are starting to look like you know what you are doing. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are a few corners where you are still entering too tight, which costs you minimum speed. Lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra -

You are braking with too much pressure, causing your speed to drop significantly more than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try braking with less pressure so you can carry more speed through the corner and gain more time overall due to maintaining a higher minimum speed. - Example

‍

----------------------

21/07/2026
The lines are good (there is still room to get tighter though) and your braking points are good. Your mid chicane acceleration is ok, in some chicanes you'll be able to get a bit more out of this section, use that short period to get a short burst of speed but remember the final exit is all important. Try not to come completely off the throttle when not necessary, sometimes you'll be able to just release the throttle 30-50% instead. Also, remember it is your exit speed that is of the most importance, concentrate on this.

Extra -

You are too slow getting back on full throttle on corner exits, costing you a considerable amount of time as your exit speed is significantly lower than optimal due to the slower acceleration. Try and get back onto full throttle quicker so you can carry a higher exit speed out of the corner, gaining you more time overall as a result. - Example

‍

----------------------

04/07/2026
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited, and the majority of the racing skills learned have been displayed across multiple segments. There are some areas where improvements are needed, which will lower your lap times. Firstly, work on refining your cornering techniques. Mastering this will significantly benefit your overall performance. Secondly, there are several instances where your gear choice could be improved. Learning truly comes from driving, analysing, and then driving again until you feel you've reached a plateau, then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible

Extra -

You are braking with too much pressure, causing your speed to drop significantly more than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try braking with less pressure so you can roll more speed into the corner, gaining you more time overall just by maintaining a higher minimum speed through the corner. - Example

‍

----------------------

19/06/2026
Good corner gear choices. It is often the case that people change down too far in a belief that it will be faster however, you nailed this. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra -

You are too slow getting back on full throttle on corner exits, costing you a lot of time as a result of both your mid chicane throttle speed and your exit speed being affected significantly. Try get back on throttle earlier so you can carry a quicker acceleration out of the corner, gaining you more time overall. - Example

‍

----------------------

06/06/2026
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra -

You are braking too late, causing you to have to apply more brake pressure to avoid going off track, however, this compromises your run on the exit as you had to slow the car further due to braking too late and towards the inside of the track. Try adjusting to an earlier braking point, and position towards the outside of the track, so you can maintain a higher minimum speed without having to worry about going off track, which will gain you more time overall as a result. - Example

----------------------

25/05/2026
Very nice. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps, amazing work and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.

Extra -

You are too hesitant with getting back on throttle, costing you a considerable amount of time on the exit of the corner as a result. Try get back on throttle earlier so you can carry a higher exit speed and gain more time overall, as an earlier throttle input helps you carry more speed quicker down the straight. - Example

----------------------

11/05/2026
Very nice, your braking points are looking very good! You have clearly got good reference markers. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks with regards to brake pressure and trailbraking to improve lap time further. Take a look at the way the reference driver smoothly bleeds off the brakes when going into a corner. This is better for weight transfer and overall grip.

Extra -

Your inputs on the brakes are currently very sharp, which is not ideal to control the car's weight balance while turning into the corner (especially the MX-5). Maintaining braking smoothness is key in racing to keeping the car balanced and maximising grip. You should apply the brakes sharply at first, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner, and continue this slow release as you increase the steering angle until you hit the apex. Here's an example.

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track πŸ’ͺ

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
