Instructor Notes

16/06/2026
In general, your racing line is pretty good, but this being one of your final assignments, we're being a bit more demanding. As written before, your racing line is often good, you just need to clean some stuff up and it'll be perfect! There are just a few apexes missed here and there, sometimes due to braking too late, or not trail braking well enough. One thing we noticed more frequently is that you're not using enough track width when approaching a corner and that's just tightening its radius, slowing you down.
So review your telemetry, see where you can apply this and you'll easily pass next time! Good luck!

Bonus Focus Point

There are a few apexes where you're carrying too much speed at the apex - Example - that then slows you down at the exit, and can also affect your racing line through the corner. Try to open up your racing line at the entry a bit more, trail brake further into the corner and really try to avoid using a lot of throttle before the apex. Some cars need it to help with rotation and stability, but those will be just some lighter inputs.
Good luck!

Previous Instructor Notes

Nice stuff. With all you have learnt in the last few months you are beginning to master the braking game. We looked at timing, pressure, speed and trailbraking and you have really progressed in all these areas. As always there is no such thing as perfect so keep working at it because you can always improve. Keep looking at the telemetry to get clues.

Extra -

You are braking a bit early, causing your speed to drop earlier than optimal and costing you a significant amount of time as a result. Try adjusting to a later braking point so you can gain more time just by carrying more speed under braking. - Example

----------------------

20/05/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

Extra -

No assessment.

----------------------

05/05/2026
Your steering looks very smooth and you unwind the wheel quickly but in control. This enables you to get on the power faster as the car can straighten up under traction. The car is also more stable and predictable, giving you better control as you power out of the corner. Try to use the reference to compare your steering on turn-in as well to further improve your times. Braking up next

Extra -

You are holding the brakes for too long, causing your speed to drop significantly more than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try releasing the brakes quicker so you can maintain a higher minimum speed through the corner and gain more time overall. - Example

----------------------

23/04/2026
You're really nailing your braking technique! It's great to see how well you're using the brakes, not just in terms of when to brake but also how you're applying them. This kind of skill helps a lot with keeping the car stable and hitting the perfect lines through corners. Your understanding and use of brake bias is spot on, enhancing your control and performance on the track. Keep it up! Your attention to detail with braking is making a big difference.

Extra -

Sometimes you are not steering enough, which causes you to run wide and miss the apex, costing you time on the exit. Try steering more for some of the hairpins in particular, so you can clip the apex and get on the power earlier on the exit, gaining you time. - Example

----------------------

08/04/2026
Your turn in point was extremely good, there was no drifting towards the corner apex before you fully commit to the turn in.  This turn in point determines the speed at which you enter a corner. Turning in too early or too late can result in either scrubbing off too much speed or carrying too much speed into the corner, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. You handle this very well and not surprisingly your corner segment times are generally very good.

Extra -

In Turn 13 at Hungaroring, you braked too late, causing you to run wide and miss the apex as a result of overshooting the corner. Try adjusting to an earlier braking point to avoid overshooting the corner, gaining you time through the corner. - Example

----------------------

29/03/2026
Impressive driving. Your consistency, knowledge of the track and overall racing technique is looking strong. Obviously this is reflected in the lap times. Congratulations. All good drivers will take the time to examine their telemetry. When you are drive so well, sometimes it is hard to see exactly the mistakes that are taking place on track. Just the knowledge that sometime wasn't perfect is keeping you grinding out the laps. This is great and instils needed muscle memory however, we'd advise getting dirty in the telemetry a bit more. Find common issues, or weak corners so when you are next on track you can hone in on needed areas. Train smart and train hard! Good luck.

Extra -

You braked too late in the fast left and right hander at Kyalami, which caused you to go too deep into the left hander, which compromised your run on the right hander as your line was too shallow on entry. This causes your speed to be significantly lower and costing you time. Try adjusting to an earlier braking point to avoid carrying too much speed and running wide. This way you can position your car more to the left in order to open the right hand corner and maintain a higher minimum speed. - Example

----------------------

10/03/2026
We'll give you one more shot at this assignment before we move on. You need to try to pull all you have learnt into one assessment. The lap times you are doing just don't cut it and will fall dramatically if you get all the basics right. Have one more go.

Extra -

By running slightly wide of the ideal apex, you're giving up cornering speed. Commit to the classic outside-inside-outside line, using the entire track width on entry, apex, and exit in the stable portions of the corner. Example

----------------------

24/02/2026
A bit more work is needed before we progress here. Don't worry though! This is one of the hardest assignments on the course, so it's expected to take a couple attempts. Have a look at the advise bellow and give it another go 💪

Extra -

You can use a bit more steering input which will allow you to take some more speed into the corners. Make sure you don't use too much and end up causing understeer though.
Often you are trail braking for too long (example), this means you take too much speed off going into the corner and costs you time.
Have a look at you throttle application in this segment (example), notice how the reference applies the throttle much faster? The line is almost vertical. Now have a look at yours, and you should see a big curve when you initially apply the throttle. This costs you time as you are taking longer to get to 100% input.

----------------------

10/02/2026
It is not uncommon for the third combination assessment to take a while. The main issues are that each segment has a couple of problems that need addressing. Racing line choice was often out and thus setting yourself up for a good exit was at times extremely hard. A lot of invalid laps as well is a sign that you are trying to push yourself just that little bit too much. It is better to drop your pace just a little to get yourself race ready. One exceptional hotlap is great but 20 laps of fast consistent lapping will win you more races. You'll also find that when you have that consistency you'll be able to adapt better from one segment to the next or even within a corner. You'll understand your car better and be able to make micro adjustments with a confidence that brings down your lap times. Train smart and good things will come.

Extra -

You're not maximising mid-corner velocity because the car isn't hugging the apex tightly enough. Always aim to use the full track limits—wide entry, precise apex touch, wide exit—wherever the car is settled and under control. Example

----------------------

27/01/2026
Please drive more laps it isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Extra -

No assessment.

----------------------

13/01/2026
Well done, you have successfully completed your setup work. Your dedication, hard work, and hopefully new understanding of setups have allowed you to pass this milestone. Your grasp of testing different setups in sim racing demonstrates your commitment to improving your skills. Congratulations on your achievement and good luck for your next Combination Assessment.

Extra - You're carrying less speed through the turn by missing the optimal apex. Make a habit of exploiting every inch of tarmac on the way in, at the clipping point, and on the way out when traction and stability allow it. Example

----------------------

30/12/2025
Your consistency of reaching 100% throttle as quickly as the reference lap was very good. You have mastered a technique here that many drivers find hard. Keep working through the items on the Previous Plans list that you struggle with most and you'll be knocking even more time off your laps.

Extra - There are a few segments where you're turning too early into the corners, that means the car gets pushed out wide earlier, you'll have to delay getting on the throttle and your speed will be slower at the corner exit (example). Finding the right turn-in point is not always easy, but typically you need to point the car towards a good and straighter exit line while also being able to start accelerating close to the apex and quickly make it to full throttle.Checking your telemetry during and after a practice session can also be very helpful to see where you can make alight adjustments to your racing line. Also keep in mind that the turn-in point can vary according to the car's setup and the driver's preferred driving style, but they all should be around the same area. Example

----------------------

16/12/2025
Another hard assignment but use the information and the practice that you have been doing for the last few months and apply this on track. Be patient and then accelerate quickly. You need to be questioning whether your line was correct, if you rotated the car enough, is your wheel movement not too exaggerated. Work hard on these areas and refer back to the telemetry data after each session to find the flaws in your corners. You are often trying to get on the gas just that little bit too early.

Extra - One area to target is improving your minimum speed in corners, which relies heavily on braking later and staying committed to the throttle through the turn. This will tighten the gap in your corner exit performance. For instance, experimenting with a slightly later braking zone can unlock more consistent speed retention. Example

---------------------

02/12/2025
Great job, your steering inputs are looking really good. Nice and smooth, without lots of oversteer or understeer. Great job.

Extra - If you have a look at the speed you're taking into corners compared to the refrence lap, you'll notice that they are taking a lot more speed then you. They are also getting on the throttle a lot quicker. This allows them to be closer to the limit of the car, and basically turn the car with the pedals, keeping the steering wheel more centered on exit. If you're finding that you're spinning when you try to do this, then increase the cars traction control a little. If you find the car is understeering wide then decrease the cars traction control. Keep up the good work! - example

----------------------

21/11/2025
You braking on most corners is spot on, however in hairpins you can trial brake for a little longer to help get the rotation, lets work on those tight corners while we move onto the next assingment.

Extra - On corner exits you can be more aggressive on the throttle. You're currently easy on quite gently compared to the refrence lap. If you're finding traction control is stopping you from getting on the throttle faster, try turning the cars TC down a bit. - example

----------------------

04/11/2025
As more skills are added to the combination assessments they naturally become harder. Essentially there are more areas where errors can be seen. You did an extremely good job last week and managed to pass. If you look back at your telemetry you'll be able to spot small improvements that are needed. For example, sometimes just a slight hesitation on the throttle as you accelerate or missing a tight apex.

Extra - Your next step is to focus on increasing cornering momentum, particularly by pushing your braking points closer to the turn and maintaining throttle input longer. This will directly improve your exit speeds and reduce lap time deficits. For example, a smoother transition from braking to throttle can help you maintain flow through the corner. Example

----------------------

22/10/2025
There were quite a few errors that need addressing. With this second combination assessment we are now looking at eight different factors that make up your driving prowess. Firstly look closely at your gear choices, has there were times that you drop into too low a gear. This will be impacting your lap times significantly. Braking points were generally good, a few mistakes but your need to keep an eye on how quickly you brake. Most importantly though we were on and off the brake far too much. It is so important to analyse your sessions. Without this analysis you'll always be second guessing how you are performing on track. The top drivers will be looking for small errors and keep of testing changes to the lines and braking technique to see if they can save time on a corner.

Extra - Brake harder and faster even on the fast corners, try a quick dab instead of your currently longer ease on and off, test these two styles. Example

----------------------

09/10/2025
This is a pass. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. There are a few hesitations but in general you are on the right track. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off. Now focus on speeding this up, but not too much that you need to lift off - find the sweet spot.

Extra - Here you turn in too early. This means your exit is compromised because you have to delay the throttle to get around the tightening radius. For corners like this where exits onto the straight are critical you want to be apexing later and getting on the throttle early by straightening the wheel sooner. Example

----------------------

23/09/2025
Nicely done, you show that consistency is there. Work on this more with more longer sessions of 20+ laps as ones concentration sometimes affects ones consistency in these longer sessions. This skill is important as you work towards your second Combination Assessment.

Extra - You are often lifting too muchoff in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Sometimes it is okay to lift slightly but do this on the way in, not on exit - it is better for momentum. Example

----------------------

10/09/2025
Your racing lines are starting to look like you are understanding. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are still a few corners where you are entering too tight and exiting too narrow, which costs you minimum speed. It's just about a pass but lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra - Here you turn in too early. This means your exit is compromised because you have to delay the throttle to get around the tightening radius. For corners like this where exits onto the straight are critical you want to be apexing later and getting on the throttle early by straightening the wheel sooner. Example

----------------------

28/08/2025
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track. Stay wide on the entry, don't drift towards the apex, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - Even though your apexes were really good, it is important also to get the width on entry and exit from the corners, work on this as you look at the second aspect of your braking. Example

----------------------

12/08/2025
Try to get wider on entry and exit at the moment you are playing it a little bit safe. Explore whether you can brake whilst slightly touching the kerb, the same with accelerating straight on the exit kerb. Is the braking safe? Try hard to find that extra width it will help you maintain your corner speed.

Extra - The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. To do that, you need to stay right on the edge of the track on the approach to the corner, stay wide until you reach a good turn-in point, then aim for the apex. On the exit the goal is usually the same: start accelerating near the apex and aim to go as wide as you can without going over the track limits. Don't be afraid to try to get on the kerbs, you can gain a lot of time by using them! Example

----------------------

30/07/2025
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track. Stay wide on the entry, don't drift towards the apex, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - By not aiming for the sharpest possible apex, you're losing precious speed mid-corner. It's crucial to make use of every bit of track space available at the entry, apex, and exit points where your vehicle maintains stability. Example

----------------------

17/07/2025
You've got a solid foundation with your lines, though fine-tuning you could make them even sharper. Braking is on point, but there's potential in the chicanes for better acceleration. Aim for quick spurts of speed where you can, keeping in mind that how you exit these sections defines your success. When possible, consider only partially lifting off the throttle instead of fully disengaging, perhaps by 30-50%. Above all, focus on your exit speed, as it's the key to better lap times.

Extra - Delay getting on the throttle too early, this is causing you to understeer and in turn forcing you to lift off the throttle. Wait a little, then be quicker and smoother with the throttle pedal. Example

----------------------

01/07/2025
When it comes to the chicanes in particular there are some key areas we can look to improve. In particular you typically enter the corner quite a bit slower than you could do. When looking at the reference lap it is often because you are not committing and cutting the apexes as much as you could be, especially on the way in. Of course this is a fine balance but it looks like there is more on the table. The straighter the line you can get away with will allow you to carry the most speed through the back to back corners.

Extra - By not aiming for the sharpest possible apex, you're losing precious speed mid-corner. It's crucial to make use of every bit of track space available at the entry, apex, and exit points where your vehicle maintains stability. Example

---------------------

17/06/2025
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. You tend to brake a little too hard which is slowing the car down a bit, try to minimise this and test the minimum you can be braking to achieve the car speed required. This will require continual learning and finesse. The more laps the better. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - Work on your entry and exit width, this is a very important corner due the long home straight. Check your telemetry, test the limits of the race track and be careful (as mentioned above) how much braking you do - example

----------------------

03/06/2025
Please do more laps. You need between 30 to 50 to really see how you're doing. Our trainers are here to help whenever. Good luck and have fun out there!

----------------------

21/05/2025
Apologies for the delay on the update.
This is unfortunately not a pass yet, there are still some adjustments that you need to make, mainly about your braking. Working on your braking will then help you be more consistent with the apexes that you missed from time to time.
Often in faster corners, you're braking too late and very hard, like in this segment. In these situations, it's best to brake a bit earlier and lighter to keep the car balanced and stay in control of the grip levels and weight transfers involved. Braking too late will also make you slow down a lot more than you need to, so being more mindful of the brake inputs can help you keep the minimum speed higher.
However, in this segment you have almost the opposite. You could have used just a little bit of brake to help you slow down for the apex, but lifted off too late and ended up missing the apex again.
Try to find a middle ground between the two, explore different braking points and brake pressures to see how your lap times change. Good luck!

Extra - There are a number of places where you can use more track, both on the corner entry and exit. The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. - Example.

----------------------

06/05/2025
Good corner gear choices. It is often the case that people change down too far in a belief that it will be faster however, you nailed this.
So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra - You're often reaching the minimum speed for a corner too early, usually due to braking early and not trail braking enough - Example. This then makes you accelerate early to compensate for the lack of speed, which changes the car's weight balance changing its behaviour still during the corner entry.
Try to focus on hitting your braking point right and carrying the brakes into the corner to help you carry some speed at the corner entry while also slowing down enough for the apex.
Maintaining braking smoothness is key in racing to keeping the car balanced and maximising grip. You should apply the brakes sharply at first, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner and continue this slow release as you increase the steering angle until you hit the apex.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

----------------------

22/04/2025
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - One key area to focus on is maintaining higher minimum speeds, which largely comes down to braking later and staying on the throttle longer through corners. This approach will help you reduce the gap in your corner exit performance. For example, a slight delay in braking can make a noticeable difference in carrying momentum through turns. Example

----------------------

08/04/2025
Since we had a large delay on your last update, we'll give you more time to record more laps and enhance your driving skills. We'll gladly analyse your sessions in your next turnover day when you have more recorded laps. Keep up the good work!

We also noticed that your logger isn't on the latest version and this might be affecting your sessions that are being recorded.  This article explains how to upgrade to the latest version, if the system hasn't managed to automatically upgrade you.

👉 Update Track Titan Logger 👈

Please ensure you also delete the folders that are indicated in the article.

Extra -

You can gain some time on the braking zones by being a bit more aggressive with the brake pedal. You're doing well by being smooth when you release the brakes, but that first attack on the pedal needs to be very sharp so you can be more effective on the braking zones. Here's a good example where your braking point was great, but ended up carrying too much speed into the corner due to what was mentioned above.

----------------------

26/03/2025
Sorry for the delay on the update.
Very nice. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps, amazing work and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.

Extra - Circuit Paul Ricard has some oddly shaped corners and those need some odd racing lines. This track is very good to see the differences in racing lines between formula cars and GT cars. Let's take a look at segment 7, formula cars can often use a wider line and be faster that way because they can rely on downforce to produce more grip. GT3s produce a lot less downforce, so a wider line here won't be of any advantage. You're already hitting a good apex, try to use a tighter line and carry the brakes into the corner to help rotate the car. You can also aim for a wider exit and use more kerb, that'll give you a faster exit.
Keep experimenting with different approaches on segments 6, 7 and 8. You can use lots of different lines in case you want to defend, attack or aim for a fast lap time.

----------------------

11/03/2025
Your braking points are looking quite good! You're often just a bit early on the brakes, but that is always better than to miss the braking point and then overshooting the corner.
Keep up the good work!

Extra - We noticed you can sometimes use more of the track's width , mainly on the corner entries. The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
