Nice stuff. With all you have learnt in the last few months you are beginning to master the braking game. We looked at timing, pressure, speed and trailbraking and you have really progressed in all these areas. As always there is no such thing as perfect so keep working at it because you can always improve. Keep looking at the telemetry to get clues. One thing you can look into is modulating your brake pressure a bit more. There were a few corners where you were loosing too much speed due to braking too hard, and also one or two where you could have trail braked further into the corner.
Other than that, great job!

Bonus Focus Point

On the subject of braking, let's take a deeper dive into this segment. Currently, you're braking twice for each apex, which is a valid approach. However, you end up having to accelerate, which changes the way the car behaves, altering your racing line, and then brake harder on the second time and lose too much speed there. A good alternative is to start trail braking earlier, but carrying the brakes almost all the way to the second apex. That way, you have more control on how you reduce the speed, the car will behave more consistently and becomes easier to predict.
Try these two approaches the next time you're on track and see how each one affects your delta there. Good luck!

Previous Instructor Notes

03/06/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

----------------------

20/05/2026
Your steering looks very smooth and you unwind the wheel quickly but in control. This enables you to get on the power faster as the car can straighten up under traction. The car is also more stable and predictable, giving you better control as you power out of the corner. Try to use the reference to compare your steering on turn-in as well to further improve your times. Braking up next

Extra -

You are too slow at getting back on throttle, costing you time on the exit as a result of a slower exit speed than optimal. Try getting back on throttle quicker so you can carry a higher exit speed and gain more time overall. - Example

----------------------

05/05/2026
Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.  Good luck and have fun on track

When exiting a turn, it's crucial to allow the steering wheel to return to its neutral position naturally, rather than forcing it. This technique, known as unwinding, should be done by easing your grip and letting the wheel slide through your hands in a controlled manner. You are still not quite there. To correct this, practice smooth hand movements at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions, ensuring that as the car straightens, the wheel corrects itself with minimal resistance. This will enhance vehicle control and promote even tire wear. Remember, precision in steering inputs leads to better overall vehicle handling. Mastery of this skill will be essential for passing this and future assessments.

Extra -

You are braking too early, and you apply nearly full throttle when you should be braking, causing you to carry too much speed into the apex, and causing you to have to steer significantly more to make the corner, costing you a lot of time. Try adjusting to a later braking point so you can carry more speed under braking, and maintain that brake pressure until you reach the apex, so you can avoid overshooting the corner and allow you to get back on throttle earlier. - Example

----------------------

08/04/2026
Your braking technique is decent; you've got the timing down pretty well. However, there's still work to be done on how you apply the brakes for smoother control. Your understanding of brake bias is adequate, but there's potential to improve how you use it for better cornering. Keep working on these details.

Extra -

In Turn 5 at Adelaide Street Circuit, you are braking too early, and with too much pressure, which causes your speed to be significantly lower than optimal, and your minimum speed to be considerably lower. Try adjusting to a later braking point so you can carry more speed under braking, and gradually ease off the brakes, so you can still slow the car down but maintain a higher minimum speed, gaining you time. - Example

----------------------

26/03/2026
Your inputs when turning in are good, well done. Often you turn the steering wheel a little faster than the reference lap, this can cause understeer. Understeer is when the front tyres lose grip before the rear tyres, which results in the car steering less than optimal. This is good enough for a pass so we will move onto the next assignment now.

Extra -

Sometimes, it's better to do a long lift off the throttle than it is to brake. Braking can too much speed off the car before the turn which costs a lot of time. In highspeed corners, work on taking more speed into them to find time. - example

----------------------

10/03/2026
Impressive driving. Your consistency, knowledge of the track and overall racing technique is looking strong. Obviously this is reflected in the lap times. Congratulations. All good drivers will take the time to examine their telemetry. When you are drive so well, sometimes it is hard to see exactly the mistakes that are taking place on track. Just the knowledge that sometime wasn't perfect is keeping you grinding out the laps. This is great and instils needed muscle memory however, we'd advise getting dirty in the telemetry a bit more. Find common issues, or weak corners so when you are next on track you can hone in on needed areas. Train smart and train hard! Good luck.

Extra -

Try to be less erratic with the throttle, smaller motions will help. This is tricky but when you ease off the throttle, you often take the throttle to 20-30% pressure. Try to use smaller movements to avoid slowing the car too much. Example

----------------------

24/02/2026
Some more work is needed here before we move on. Don't worry though, this is one of the hardest assignment in the Premium plan, and usually takes a couple attempts. Have a look at the advice bellow and give this assignment another go.

Extra -

Currently, you are not trail braking for longer enough (example). Instead of braking lots for a short amount of time, use a little less pressure but deeper into the corner. This will allow for better weight transfer, meaning you can take more speed into the corner.

Have a look at your steering inputs. Often, you are turning the wheel too much. Try to reduce your inputs by 20-30 degrees to avoid understeer. Understeer is when the front tyres lose grip before the rear tyres, which results in the car steering less than optimal. This can cause the tyres to wear faster and increase tyre temps (making the tyre too hot), you'll also have to go slower through corners to make it around.

----------------------

10/02/2026
Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.  Good luck and have fun on track

Extra -

Even though your apexes were really good, it is important also to get the width on entry and exit from the corners, work on this as you look at the second aspect of your braking. Example

----------------------

27/01/2026
The key to improvement lies in consistency and control. Rather than focusing on a single perfect lap, aim for a series of fast, reliable laps that build adaptability and confidence. Avoid overdriving—pushing too hard leads to mistakes and invalid laps. Instead, prioritize smooth, deliberate adjustments to your racing line and braking points to better understand your car's behaviour. Smart, focused practice will not only lower lap times but also prepare you for the challenges of a full race.

Extra -

Take a look at the timing of your throttle in this section. Compare yourself to the reference lap, by tweaking your throttle application both on and off in this section you can help the balance and rotation of the car for best results. Example

----------------------

13/01/2026
Good luck.

Extra -

You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

----------------------

30/12/2025
Your consistency of reaching 100% throttle as quickly as the reference lap was very good. You have mastered a technique here that many drivers find hard. Keep working through the items on the Previous Plans list that you struggle with most and you'll be knocking even more time off your laps.

Extra -

Here you turn in too late. This means your entry is compromised because you have to use a tighter radius. For corners where exits onto the straight are critical you want to be apexing later like this but not here where there is a corner following. Example

----------------------

16/12/2025
Could you please drive more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to get a read of how you are doing, even if you are not driving as part of a specific plan. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Extra -

To elevate your lap times, prioritize sustaining higher speeds through corners. This means braking later and easing off the throttle less during turns. These adjustments will shrink the time lost on corner exits. As an example, a more aggressive throttle application mid-corner can help you carry more speed onto the straights. Example

----------------------

02/12/2025
Another hard assignment but use the information and the practice that you have been doing for the last few months and apply this on track. You are delaying too long before commiting to the pedal. The speed of the application after that point is good but it just starts too late. You need to be questioning whether your line was correct, if you rotated the car enough, is your wheel movement not too exaggerated. Work hard on these areas and refer back to the telemetry data after each session to find the flaws in your corners.

Extra - I had a look at a couple sessions and here's some advice on getting back on the power:
1. You are often waiting too long before getting on the throttle.
2. Through the fast/long corners you are getting on the throttle too early and then having to lift off again so you don't run wide. Through these corners, delay your inputs a little so you can do 1 continuous movement to get on the throttle and not have to lift off again.

example

Super close to a pass though, keep up the good work and we'll be on the next assignment in no time!

----------------------

18/11/2025
When you steer your car, you are essentially changing its direction by altering the angle of the wheels. However, if you turn the wheels too much, the car will experience understeer. This means that the car's front wheels lose grip and traction, causing it to slow down and become less responsive to your steering inputs. So, while it may seem tempting to turn your steering wheel as much as possible to take a turn, it is actually more efficient to find the sweet spot where the car maintains its grip and speed. By mastering the balance between steering and maintaining traction, you'll be able to navigate the track with ease and speed. During this week you've managed this very well with only a couple of times that you've been scrubbing the tyres, so very well done.

Extra - The key issue we're seeing is that you're throttling down too soon instead of ramping up to full power. Adjust your racing line just a touch, getting closer to the apex, and you'll notice a real boost in performance. Example

----------------------

04/11/2025
Decent use of trail braking, by releasing the brake slowly to help rotate the car around sharper hairpins and get back on the throttle smoothly. This will help shave tenths off your time as you are setting yourself up well for the corner exit. Try also to be a little flexible about the power of your braking, remember of faster corners you can avoid braking all the way to 100%. I would like to see you be a bit smoother with this technique as you are still a bit inconsistent.

Extra - You often accelerate too late and that cost you a lot of time. You aren't as fast to 100% with your throttle which is affecting your top speed on the subsequent straight. Practice a fast but smooth acceleration all the way to 100% throttle using as much of the track exit as available so that you can have as straight a wheel as possible. This will allow the car to use most of it's power for forward acceleration. Example

----------------------

22/10/2025
This is a hard skill to develop but it is very useful for understanding the weight distribution of your car. Also, as the plan states it gives a slightly extended time at top speed on the straights. Practice hard and try to feel how the car reacts as you slowly release the brake. Remember, as a guide to gauge finishing releasing the brake as you reach near the apex.

Extra - A key area for improvement is your trail braking approach. Ensuring smooth brake modulation helps maintain car balance and maximizes tire grip. Apply strong braking at first, then slowly reduce pressure as you steer into the corner, completing the release at the apex. As an example, start easing off the brakes right at turn-in to carry more controlled speed through the corner. Example

----------------------

09/10/2025
Really sorry for the delay on the update.
There are some good segments, but still some where it's clear you need to work on your trail braking. Your performance ranges from releasing the brakes too quickly, to pumping the brakes a lot in some segments. Aim for smoothness with a sharp input at first, but then gradually lifting off from the moment you start turning into the corner.

Extra - An important thing to be fast in the MX-5 is conserving momentum through the corner. As it is a low powered car, shaving off too much speed in the corner will then cost a lot of time to get it back. To avoid that, drivers need to find a good compromise: If you're too fast at the mid-corner phase, you'll lose time on the exit because you'll need to accelerate later, but if you slow down too much for the apex, then you lose time getting back to full speed. Most of this comes down to practice, but let's take a look at this example. You hit the brakes late, turn-in late but find a good exit line. Even though your racing line was alright, braking late and hard caused you to shave off too much speed and continuously lose time on the exit. See how the reference lap brakes early instead, but very lightly, keeping the car balanced conserving grip and momentum throughout the corner.
Being mindful of your inputs and keeping the car balanced are the best ways to conserve momentum in the MX-5.

----------------------

28/08/2025
As more skills are added to the combination assessments they naturally become harder. Essentially there are more areas where errors can be seen. You did an extremely good job last week and managed to pass. If you look back at your telemetry you'll be able to spot small improvements that are needed. For example, sometimes just a slight hesitation on the throttle as you accelerate or missing a tight apex.

Extra - The primary problem right now is that you're easing off the accelerator too early rather than accelerating fully to maximum throttle. Consider tweaking your racing path a bit—aiming for a tighter approach to the apex should make a big difference. Example

----------------------

12/08/2025
Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Extra - No assessment.

----------------------

30/07/2025
There are several areas that need significant improvement, and unfortunately, this has resulted in failing the assignment. In this second combined assessment, we are considering eight key factors that influence your driving performance. Your braking points were mostly acceptable, but there were several misjudgments. You need to work on how quickly you’re braking, as this can lead to unnecessary time loss. However, the most noticeable issue was your inconsistent braking, going on and off the brakes too much. This disrupts your rhythm and efficiency on the track.

It’s crucial to review your sessions in detail. Without doing so, you will continue to guess at your performance, which is not an effective approach. The top drivers analyse every aspect of their driving, constantly searching for small mistakes and testing adjustments in their lines and braking techniques to improve their lap times. Until you adopt this level of analysis and attention to detail, you will struggle to make the necessary improvements to pass.

Extra - You are giving up mid-corner speed by not taking a tight enough apex. Make sure to use every inch of track available on corner entry, apex and exit where the car is stable. Example

----------------------

17/07/2025
Could you please run more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to make sure we're getting it right. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Extra - Holding the brakes at full pressure for too long is slowing your car down too much. Try to be more nimble with the foot action and trust the cars gripping ability. Example

----------------------

01/07/2025

This is a pass. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. There are a few hesitations but in general you are on the right track. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off.

Extra - Even though your apexes were really good, it is important also to get the width on entry and exit from the corners, work on this as you look at the second aspect of your braking. Example

----------------------

17/06/2025
Sorry for the delay. There's been a mistake on our part and your assignment should have been changed. However, this worked well to your advantage since you just managed to pass! With 10 consecutive laps and lap times just 1.5 seconds withing each other, although it's a bit narrow, you managed to find a good pass here. Well done!

Extra - There are quite a few segments where you need to improve your trail braking to carry the brakes further into the corner (example). You're often releasing the brakes too quickly and it's prompting you to brake earlier than you need to. You can see by your Speed graph that your car maintains its speed for a while at the corner entry before you hit the brakes once more. Try to transform this into a single smooth and slow release of the brake pedal.

----------------------

03/06/2025
Still errors here. It is very important to push the boundaries of the track, as you improve it is this one of the best ways to find a tenth or two on track. For the time being though we will move on to your next assignment.

Extra - Try to be less erratic with the throttle, smaller motions will help. This is tricky but when you ease off the throttle, you often take the throttle to 20-30% pressure. Try to use smaller movements to avoid slowing the car too much. Example

----------------------

21/05/2025
There are some good times, however also too many invalid laps. I appreciate that this is inevitable when training but it is worth really focusing on this technique as nailing lap after lap without invalid laps is critical in a race situation. It can be the difference between a drive through or not. Slow your driving down a little and really concentrate on the consistency with valid laps.

It is so important to get laps in in a practice session. Follow the plan and get plenty of laps in on each session. Set yourself targets, turn it into a game, practice can sometimes be repetative but this is what makes good drivers.

A racing drivers main skill has to be able to achieve similar lap times lap after lap. Drop your speed 10% and achieve these valid laps to move on with your training.‍

Extra - Try delaying your acceleration so that you can avoid having to lift at the crucial part of the corner. This lift is really affecting the top speed you are able to achieve on this tight and twisty layout - example

----------------------

06/05/2025
Certainly an improvement from the last turnover day, well done!
Your racing lines are starting to look like you know what you are doing. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are a few corners where you are still entering too tight, which costs you minimum speed. Lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra - There are a few segments where you need to adjust the amount of brake pressure you're using. For instance, in heavy braking zones it's important to be able to use all the available brake pressure in a car to slow down effectively. That's especially important in cars with ABS like the GR86 in this example. By using more brake pressure, you'll be able to shorten the braking zones and save some time there.
Additionally, in more pitch sensitive cars and with less grip, like the MX-5 that relies a lot on weight transfer to be fast around a corner, you need to be more mindful of how much you need to brake. In shorter braking zones and fast corners like this example, you'll need to be lighter on the brakes not only to keep the speed and momentum up, but also to keep the car more balanced and to have more grip through the corner.
Experiment different brake pressures with different cars and see how they'll affect your lap times. Also, don't forget to check the telemetry from time to time and compare your inputs to the ones from the reference laps. Of course different driving styles will produce different inputs, but they should generally fall close to the same pattern. Good luck!

----------------------

22/04/2025
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track. Stay wide on the entry, don't drift towards the apex, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra - Your car's speed through the corner suffers because you're not hugging the apex closely. Remember to leverage the full width of the track right from the entry, through the apex, and as you exit, particularly where your car feels stable. Example

----------------------

08/04/2025
Good control through the chicanes. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line is good and your mid chicane acceleration is great. Also try to be quicker getting on the throttle on the exits (not just in chicanes). Remember gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds.

Extra - Looks like you are slow on the straights. Improving straight-line speed starts with optimising your vehicle's setup: ensure your aero downforce is not too much, look as suspension alignment, and consider gear ratios that favour acceleration and peaks at the top of top gear. Remember, smooth inputs and maintaining momentum are key to shaving off those crucial tenths of a second. Example

----------------------

26/03/2025
Please drive more laps.  It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed.  The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

----------------------

11/03/2025
When it comes to the chicanes in particular there are some key areas we can look to improve. In particular you typically enter the corner quite a bit slower than you could do. When looking at the reference lap it is often because you are not committing and cutting the apexes as much as you could be, especially on the way in. Of course this is a fine balance but it looks like there is more on the table. The straighter the line you can get away with will allow you to carry the most speed through the back to back corners.

25/02/2025
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited, and the majority of the racing skills learned have been displayed across multiple segments. There are some areas where improvements are needed, which will lower your lap times. Firstly, work on refining your cornering techniques. Mastering this will significantly benefit your overall performance. Secondly, there are several instances where your gear choice could be improved. Learning truly comes from driving, analysing, and then driving again until you feel you've reached a plateau, then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

11/02/2025
It is a hard task to bring all these skills together at the same time. Keep up the work, it is worth persevering. By concentrating on the important of the braking point and power will make it possible to turn your attention more to the throttle. It is at this point that you'll see the biggest improvements in your times. The braking points and apex work suffered in this combination assessment. Concentrate on these two areas to move onto the next training plan.

Extra - You are giving up mid-corner speed by not taking a tight enough apex. Make sure to use every inch of track available on corner entry, apex and exit where the car is stable. Example

----------------------

28/01/2025
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

14/01/2025
Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

31/12/2024
Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

----------------------

17/12/2024
Very nice, your braking points are sharp and spot on. Important! Be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Your car's speed through the corner suffers because you're not hugging the apex closely. Remember to leverage the full width of the track right from the entry, through the apex, and as you exit, particularly where your car feels stable. Example

----------------------

12/12/2024
Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
