Improve lap times so ultimately enter leagues

So we are off and running! 🚀 These first few lessons are really exciting as there are loads of big changes that often need to be made and good practice as this stage will get you to the next level. Read through the mistakes section and when on track always have these thoughts in your head. Where should I brake, which gear should I use etc.
Stay at the Red Bull Ring. Do a minimum of 3 sessions. First, only thinking about your gearing. Second one only thinking about your braking points and the third (and longest session) try to think about all three mistakes. Between each session, refer back to the analysis page to reconfirm that you are heading the right direction.

As you brake through the corner and then turn your thoughts to the exit, there is a tendency to feel the lower gear will give you a faster exit. This can be counterproductive when pushing the upper limits of the engine
24% of your errors are from too low a gear.
Segment 6 shows how using 4th gear loses you a little speed on the corner exit but more importantly the fast section afterwards is compromised.
If the car is feeling sluggish or is revving too high, this is a good indication that you are in too low a gear. If you feel this might be the case, start a new session and drive two laps, first in the suspected wrong gear and then one gear higher. Check out your live delta, it'll give you your answer.

A good mistake to make since it's easy to fix! You simply need to find a slightly later braking point to maximize your lap time potential.
With approximately 20% of all of your mistakes being this one, it is still a very common mistake and easily fixed with more practice and lap consistency.
Look at where you brake on segment 1, as a whole, the corner is well handled. There are a number of factors that cost you 1.1 seconds. Gear choice and failing to get on the gas quick enough, also trail braking would have helped you brake a little later.
It can be a fine balance between too early and too late on the brakes. Sometimes, depending on the corner, 5cms difference in braking point can lose you a tenth of a second. Even though you got on the brakes earlier than the reference lap, they managed to get to full throttle more aggressively and quicker than your corner.

Full throttle is where the speed is. As long as you have control, the general aim is to get to full throttle as quickly as possible.
With 12% of all of your mistakes being this one, there is work to be done here.
Segment 7 is a good example of how you apply your throttle. Trusting your car will help to attain the throttle curve that the reference lap is able to achieve.
Take a moment to watch one of our videos that emphasises the need to get to full throttle quickly. Think smooth but fast, on / off the throttle will nearly always be slower than quick and smooth.
