Jacob Anderson - Race Plan No. 2

Conclusion

Braking points and braking technique are areas where you should concentrate your efforts. Trust the car, they have immense braking power. Remember, practice to the limit, you don't have to pay for any crashes! Also, when planning your corner strategy, remember what type of corner it is and if there are any characteristics that will alter how you need to handle it. For example, is it uphill or downhill? is it a high speed or slow speed corner?  Quite often you brake too hard in a high speed corner and take a lot of speed out of the car.

Set Up Advice

No specific setup changes required based on the telemetry data.

Mugello - Italy

Segment 1 - "San Donato"

☐ Braking too early and not braking hard enough. You took a very early apex compromising your exit which means that getting on the throttle would be trickier. Possibly in a race situation this line might be needed to protect against an overtake, after such a long straight.

Segment 2 - "Luco & Poggiosecco"

☐ You need to brake here. At the moment you didn't brake and went too wide compromising your line for the right hand turn. In compound corners you need to keep it tighter in the first part so that you can get a good run in the 2nd turn.

Segment 3 - "Materassi & Borgo San Lorenzo"

☐ Here you are braking too early. You are not using the entire track on entry. You need to open up the corner, especially this one since we have another compound corner. You are also very inconsistent on the throttle. Be more firm on what you are going to do with the throttle and be smooth with it. Gear is also too low and will cause issues with tyre wear during a race.

Segment 4 - "Casanova & Savelli"

☐ Unnecessary braking here. When turning left you stay on to the throttle for too long. You need to release the throttle before the apex and not at the apex to get the car turning. By still having pressure on the throttle while turning you are asking too much from the tyres and create under-steer. Gear should be in 6th.

Segment 5 - "Arrabbiata 1 & 2"

☐ You tapped the brakes which was not needed here. Be careful not to turning in too early and release the throttle. You can do a 30% lift first then a 5% lift and then just keep the throttle pinned in this high speed corner. The car can take it. Gear is also too low here.

Segment 6 - "Scarperia & Palagio"

☐ You are braking too early here as well. You are not braking fully either which isn't . You don't need to shift down to 3rd. 5th will do just fine. Use much more of the exit so you can keep it to the middle of the track and have more speed on entry in the first corner.

Segment 7 - "Biondetti 1 & 2"

☐ Here you are braking too early and not using full brakes. You are going too wide because you turn in too early and you are holding too long on the brakes. You want to trail brake here so have less brake pressure when turning.

Segment 8 - "Bucine"

☐ You are braking too early and not using full braking. You are also too early on the throttle so you need to be more patient in this corner.
