Instructor Notes

Your braking is too inconsistent. Sometimes you are showing good technique and other times your braking strength is not where it needs to be for that particular corner. This leads to other mistakes in your driving. Try to improve your consistency for the next assessment so we can move past this stage.

Bonus Focus Point

You're not using enough brake pressure, causing you to carry too much speed and costing you time as you overshoot the corner, despite braking significantly earlier. Try braking later, and harder so you can gain time just by carrying more speed under braking but also slowing down that extra speed more efficently. - Example

Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra -

You are putting too much steering lock into corners, which induces a lot of understeer and hinders your car's ability to rotate, costing you a considerable amount of time as a result. Try applying less steering lock, and steer towards the nature of the corner, not just full lock one direction, as you are just pushing and scrubbing the front tyres doing this, causing you to go straight rather than turn. - Example

Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra -

You are sometimes braking unnecessarily in faster corners, causing your speed to drop significantly more than optimal and costing you a lot of time as a result. Try and lift off the throttle instead of going to the brake so you can maintain a higher minimum speed and gain more time overall. The engine braking in an F1 car will slow the car down drastically as soon as you get off the throttle, so you do not need to use the brake to reduce the speed as it will lower that speed too much. - Example

There are some bad corners and some good corners. It is important to braking hard to be able to stretch your braking points. Brake hard and brake deep. Remember to refer back to the reference lap to see how you are doing. Small adjustments are needed all the time. We are only a little way off so we will move on. Each of these plans works on top of the previous one. So don't forget your braking points as we look closer at the apex of each corner. Also, it is important that you don't rest on the brake pedal before you commit to the corner.

You're not using enough brake pressure, causing you to carry too much speed and costing you time as you overshoot the corner, despite braking significantly earlier. Try braking later, and harder so you can gain time just by carrying more speed under braking but also slowing down that extra speed more efficently. - Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
