Consistency is a critical component of success in sim racing, and it can make all the difference between finishing first and falling behind the pack. When you're consistent, you're able to maintain a high level of performance throughout the race and avoid costly mistakes that can cost you time and positions. So, how can you improve your consistency? The key is to practice regularly and focus on developing good habits. Make a conscious effort to drive at a consistent pace, hitting the same braking points and taking the same lines through each turn. Pay attention to your lap times and try to identify areas where you can improve. Take special care to avoid those invalid lap. Time penalties can be a killer in a race. Another important factor is staying focused and avoiding distractions. Try to eliminate any external factors that can disrupt your concentration, such as noise or interruptions. And don't forget to take care of yourself - getting enough rest, staying hydrated, and eating well can all help you maintain your focus and energy levels. Finally, don't be too hard on yourself if you do make a mistake or have a bad race. Everyone has off days, and the key is to learn from your mistakes and keep pushing yourself to improve. With practice, dedication, and a positive attitude, you can become a more consistent and successful sim racer. Good luck out there on the track!

Bonus Focus Point

You come off the throttle considerably early on the straight, costing you free time on the straight unnecessarily. Try holding the throttle until you have to release it to brake for the corner, instead of having that long pause between throttle inputs, so you can gain more time overall. - Example

Extra -

You are accelerating and braking at the same time, causing you to carry too much speed and overshoot the corner, costing you a significant amount of time as a result. Try make sure you are only using one pedal at a time, in order to make the most out of either the accelerator or the brake, depending on the situation. Using both at the same time reduces your ability to accelerate quickly or slow down quickly. - Example

----------------------

17/05/2026
Your racing lines are starting to look like you are understanding. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are still a few corners where you are entering too tight and exiting too narrow, which costs you minimum speed. It's just about a pass but lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra -

You are still sometimes approaching on the inside of the track, rather than the outside, causing you to have a much more shallower entry and costing you a lot of time as you are braking late on the inside, causing you to overshoot the corner and compromising your exit. Try position on the outside of the track, in this case the left hand side of the track, in order to open the corner better and allow you to carry a higher exit speed, gaining you more time overall as a result. - Example

----------------------

30/04/2026
Your racing lines still aren't taking full advantage of the track. Stay wide on the entry, don't drift towards the apex, wait for your turn in point then eyeball the apex and hug the apex kerb and then determine a good exit acceleration point to take advantage of the whole width on the track on exit. You normally manage to get two out of three parts correct. i.e. entry and apex or entry and exit but miss the apex. It is when you manage to hit all three is where you increase the radius of the corner and give the car the chance to carry faster speeds.

Extra -

You are not using the full width of the track on exit, you are exiting towards the inside of the track rather than the outside. Try carrying a higher minimum speed through the corner, so the car can naturally drift towards the edge of the track on the exit, gaining you time overall. - Example

----------------------

16/04/2026
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track.

Extra -

You are often getting on throttle too early, causing you to carry too much speed approaching the apex, and instead, overshooting the corner and missing the apex. Try be more patient with the throttle until you reach the apex, and gradually apply throttle as you are at the apex and exiting the corner, to avoid carrying too much speed and having to ease off the throttle or apply the brake to avoid going off track. - Example

----------------------

02/04/2026
Your racing lines aren't taking full advantage of the track.

Extra -

The key issue we're seeing is that you're throttling down too soon instead of ramping up to full power. Adjust your racing line just a touch, getting closer to the apex, and you'll notice a real boost in performance. Example

----------------------

05/02/2026 - 19/02/2026 - 20/03/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

Extra -

No assessment.

Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

----------------------

08/01/2026
Good control through the chicanes. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line is good and your mid chicane acceleration is great. Also try to be quicker getting on the throttle on the exits (not just in chicanes). Remember gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds.

Extra - By running slightly wide of the ideal apex, you're giving up cornering speed. Commit to the classic outside-inside-outside line, using the entire track width on entry, apex, and exit in the stable portions of the corner. Example

----------------------

25/12/2025
Could you please drive more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to get a read of how you are doing, even if you are not driving as part of a specific plan. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

----------------------

11/12/2025
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Secondly, there are a number of times that your gear choice could be improved. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - Here you turn in too late. This means your entry is compromised because you have to use a tighter radius. For corners where exits onto the straight are critical you want to be apexing later like this but not here where there is a corner following. Example

---------------------

27/11/2025
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track. Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Now you only need to stay under that limit. Example

----------------------

06/11/2025
Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins. Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Use the width of the track. Every opportunity to test the limits of the track should be used. There is room both on entry and exit to the corner to go wider. Example

----------------------

24/10/2025
There needs to be a little more speed and urgency in your braking. Sometimes you nail it but on too many occasions there is too much hesitancy. You are braking a little earlier than the reference lap and getting to 100% braking later. Try to press the brake pedal quicker whilst doing your best to maintain traction. Also, try to avoid resting on the brake pedal before fully committing to the braking phase. Practice is needed but it is a skill that is relatively easy to view and adapt to.

Extra - Your biggest hurdle at present is lifting off the gas prematurely rather than flooring it to complete throttle. Try refining your trajectory slightly by taking a tighter line into the apex—that'll be a game-changer. Example

----------------------

09/10/2025
There are too many errors with the data that we are receiving.  It is very important to be on the latest version of the Track Titan logger.  Please follow this link if you need help running the update https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger. If you are still experiencing issues after installing the latest version please contact keith@tracktitan.io and he'll get you up and running.

----------------------

26/09/2025
Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - Your throttle application is delaying your acceleration phase, impacting your straight-line speed. Maximise throttle input earlier to optimise top speed for the next straight. Focus on swift and seamless throttle control, utilising track space efficiently to maintain straight alignment for maximal power transfer and acceleration efficiency. Example

----------------------

12/09/2025
Sometimes, you'll hit the perfect line through a corner—clean, sharp, with a strong exit. But there's often more speed to be found by hugging the apex even tighter. Start by taking a wide approach at the entry curb, focusing on your apex timing (be it early or late), then accelerate out in a way that utilizes the entire width of the track. As you accumulate more laps, this technique will become second nature. Once you've got consistency down, you can make small tweaks to cut down your lap times even more.

Extra - A critical area for improvement is boosting your minimum cornering speeds. This hinges on delaying your braking point and holding the throttle more consistently through turns. By refining this, you’ll close the performance gap on corner exits. For instance, braking just a fraction later can significantly enhance your momentum out of the corner. Example

----------------------

28/08/2025
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - You are often lifting off more than required in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to stay flat in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

----------------------

There were some good segments but unfortunately too many missed braking points. Practice trying to be consistent. This is best done by driving a little slower than your maximum. Remember your braking points and try to repeat for 3 laps in a row, always trying to be within a second and a half of the lap before. Only when you achieve this try going a little faster. Repeat his process for many laps but don't forget to put back to the analysis to make sure you aren't making any big mistakes.

Brake hard and fast, never rest your foot on the brake before committing to the braking point.

Good luck and I'm sure with enough laps and the advice above you'll be passing this driving skill.

Extra - Holding the brakes at full pressure for too long is slowing your car down too much. Try to be more nimble with the foot action and trust the cars gripping ability. Example

Extra - You've made good progress, but it's important to address your tendency to brake early. While being cautious is understandable, braking too early can lead to a loss of momentum, affecting your overall lap time. To optimise your performance, try to identify braking points that allow you to carry more speed into the corners. Gradually delay your braking to find the sweet spot where you're slowing down just enough without sacrificing speed. With practice, you'll find the right balance and see noticeable improvements in your lap times. Keep refining your technique—you've got this! Example

----------------------

24/04/2025
There are some bad corners and some good corners. It is important to braking hard to be able to stretch your braking points. Brake hard and brake deep. Remember to refer back to the reference lap to see how you are doing. Small adjustments are needed all the time. We are only a little way off so we will move on. Each of these plans works on top of the previous one. So don't forget your braking points as we look closer at the apex of each corner. Also, it is important that you don't rest on the brake pedal before you commit to the corner.

Extra - Biggest issue at the moment is that you are often dropping off the throttle instead of pushing through to 100% throttle, try adjusting your racing line slightly, a little tighter to the apex will really help. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
