Instructor Notes

04/03/2025 - 11/06/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

There needs to be a little more speed and urgency in your braking. Sometimes you nail it but on too many occasions there is too much hesitancy. You are braking a little earlier than the reference lap and getting to 100% braking later. Try to press the brake pedal quicker whilst doing your best to maintain traction. Also, try to avoid resting on the brake pedal before fully committing to the braking phase. Practice is needed but it is a skill that is relatively easy to view and adapt to.
Please can you make sure you are on the latest logger via this link:

Extra - We've observed that you could enhance your trail braking technique. Maintaining braking smoothness is key in racing to keeping the car balanced and maximising grip. You should apply the brakes sharply at first, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner, and continue this slow release until you hit the apex. Here's an example:

Good racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apex's, great job! The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can slowly tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are nailing the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up!

Extra -

You tend to brake progressively harder as you get closer to the corner, try to do exactly the opposite of that. Your first attack on the brakes is looking very sharp, which is great. Brake as hard as the car can handle there, but then release them gradually. Begin easing off the brakes right as you start turning into the corner, and continue this slow release until you hit the apex - Example.

We also noticed you might be running an older version of the Track Titan logger. Please follow this link if you need help running the update https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger otherwise if you are on the latest version please contact keith@tracktitan.io and he'll get this working for you.

Avoid hitting the brake pedal multiple times in one braking zone. Ideally you want to hit it firmly to begin with and then ease off as things slow down. Hitting it more than once suggests you broke too early. Example

Extra - Your throttle application is delaying your acceleration phase, impacting your straight-line speed. Maximise throttle input earlier to optimise top speed for the next straight. Focus on swift and seamless throttle control, utilising track space efficiently to maintain straight alignment for maximal power transfer and acceleration efficiency. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
