Braking points are generally very good however there are some things to work on a little more. The mid chicane throttle work is lacking. ย Have confidence to put your foot down mid chicane to squeeze in a little acceleration. It might feel insignificant but there is lots of time to be found here. Plan for your exit as well you are sometimes on and off the throttle with is stopping you getting to 100% throttle quickly.
Extra - Please try to drive some more laps. We need at least 30-50 laps to be able to accurately assess your driving. Good luck, and have fun!

You haven't driven enough representative laps on a track with a chicane.ย Please drive more laps on a track with a chicane. You drove a few laps at Spa, but your fastest lap was 25 seconds off the reference lap, so it was clearly not representative of your pace.
Extra - We noticed you might be running an older version of the Track Titan logger. Please follow this link if you need help running the update https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger otherwise if you are on the latest version please contact keith@tracktitan.io and he'll get this working for you.

When it comes to the chicanes in particular there are some key areas we can look to improve. In particular you typically enter the corner quite a bit slower than you could do. When looking at the reference lap it is often because you are not committing and cutting the apexes as much as you could be, especially on the way in. Of course this is a fine balance but it looks like there is more on the table. The straighter the line you can get away with will allow you to carry the most speed through the back to back corners.
Extra - You are losing a lot of time by braking too early, then not getting on the throttle quickly enough on the exit of the corner. Go back and watch the reference lap, and try to match the braking and acceleration, both in terms of the amount of pressure on the pedals, and the braking/acceleration points. Here is an example.
----------------------
19/03/2024
You only drove one circuit with one chicane. Although your performance looked good, we still want to see a few more chicanes to make sure you've gotten everything right in this assignment.
Extra - Let's take a better look at this section. When you're approaching the first corner (the double apex corner), you need to take into account the right hand corner after it and also the straight at the end of the section. The goal is, of course, to leave the section as quickly as possible, but also to maximise the top speed in the straight. To do that, you need to sacrifice a bit of exit speed from the first corner in order to have a better entry into the following corner. In this case, to maximise the top speed in the straight, really use a lot of track on the entry to the second corner.

Please drive a circuit that has a chicane on it so that we can look at your chicane skills and assess your latest plan. Zolder is a great track to try out a number of different styles of chicanes.
Extra - It appears that you can use a bit more track in some corners. Stay close to the track limits on the approach to the corner and stay wide all the way to the turn-in point. This will help you carry more speed through the corner. Then, under acceleration, go all the way to the exit kerb for the best exit possible. Here's an example for you to take a look at.

Overall a good assessment, although some things can be improved: your braking points are generally good, but you have missed just a few, you have also missed just a few apexes and went through a few corners in a higher gear. Your speed on the brake pedal is good, but you sometimes brake too hard and end up losing a bit too much speed and risk unsettling the car.
But these were isolated events, so you have a good pass today. Congratulations!
Extra - There were a few occasions where you were turning the steering wheel too much. Doing this reduces grip on the front wheels and gives you a lot of understeer. In this example, you could have carried much more speed through the corner, but had to get off the throttle to avoid going too wide.
To avoid this, try to reduce your steering input by a lot and increase it lap by lap. You'll eventually reach a point in which you'll keep trying to steer, but the car won't turn more. This is the grip limit for that specific speed. The slower the speed, the more you'll be able to turn, of course, but with experience you'll find the ideal steering angle for each corner/speed you're carrying.
Try to keep your steering input to a minimum, this way you'll rarely understeer and will develop some good habits.

We believe there are still some improvements to be made. Gear choice and braking points are looking good, however you missed a few apexes and are a bit slow on the brakes. Try to focus on these two things and you'll be able to easily pass this assignment.
Extra - There were a few occasions where you could improve your approach to the corner. The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. In order to do that, you need to approach the corner as close as possible to the track limits. Ride the kerbs if you need to and if it's safe just to get a bit more width into the corner.
Here's an example for you to take into account.

Your braking points are generally good, which is great. However, you need to work more on your apexes and your speed on the brake pedal. You're often missing apexes due to carrying too much speed into the corners. You can improve this by being a bit faster on the brake pedal and sometimes brake a bit harder.ย By fixing this, you'll also be able to hit the apexes more easily.
Extra -
You're usually turning in too early and carrying too much speed into the corners and then, as a consequence, you end up going too wide and have to slow the car down a lot.
It's sometimes difficult to find a good turn-in point, but most times you can turn in later. To avoid carrying too much speed into a corner, try to be a bit faster on the brake pedal and also carry the brakes a bit further into the corner.
Here's an example for you to take a look at.

Good corner gear choices. Sometimes you are one gear higher or lower than the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive whether you have the control choosing a different gear. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times.
So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....
Extra - Corners like this one or this one are usually double apex corners. This means you'll have an early apex, but quite a straight turn in, you'll be able to brake later, however you need to slow down the car a bit more after the first apex to then be able to rotate and have a faster and straighter exit. Practice in these two examples to let the car go a bit wider in the mid-corner phase to see if you can be a bit faster like this.
Important note - This is usually faster for cars will low grip/less downforce. If you're driving for example a Formula 1 car, this can be actually slower. At the end, it's up to the driver's preference and how you feel more confident and faster. However, it's always a good skill to have up your sleeve. It's always important to test alternative lines, because even if you aren't faster on those lines, you'll know how the car will behave when you're overtaking someone.

Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps, the more the better! ๐ช
Extra - Sometimes you're braking a bit too late and end up missing apexes. It is not always straight forward where the best braking point is, so finding them should be your top priority when you're learning a new track. If you're having trouble with it, the Track Titan app is a great help in this matter. Here's an example for you to take a look at.

While your speed on the pedal is good, you need to work a bit more on the amount of pressure you're applying. Keep practicing and good luck!
Extra - You're turning your steering wheel a bit too much and this causes your front tyres to lose grip. This is probably the reason why you're needing to slow down so much in the corners. Here's an example for you to analyse
---------------------
18/09/2023
Fantastic racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apex's, there is still a little room to get tighter. Great job using the whole width of the track. Practice trying to take a slightly later apex and see how this affects your deltas. Also have in the back of your mind the angle / direction of the car as you take the apex. The more it is facing in the direction of the coming straight the quicker you'll be able to effectively get on the throttle.
Your throttle engagement should generally be within two car lengths of your apex.
Extra - Check out the racing line here for a faster lap time, small differences can have a substantial impact on your lap times - example

04/09/2023
You're doing really well, although there were a couple of instances where you just missed the mark. No worries though, it happens to the best of us! Something to keep in mind is that sometimes there are segments of the track where you don't need to brake at all. In those instances, simply lifting off the throttle can be enough to help you retain your speed and maintain control. Enjoy your apex work and don't be afraid to test the entry-apex-exit kerbs!
Extra - You can still use a bit more track in some corners. The difference might seem marginal, but it can be enough to slow you down a bit, specially in cars in which you need to keep momentum like the MX-5 - Example
----------------------
21/08/2023
There were some good segments but unfortunately too many missed braking points. Practice trying to be consistent. This is best done by driving a little slower than your maximum. Remember your braking points and try to repeat for 3 laps in a row, always trying to be within a second and a half of the lap before. Only when you achieve this try going a little faster. Repeat his process for many laps but don't forget to put back to the analysis to make sure you aren't making any big mistakes. Brake hard and fast, never rest your foot on the brake before committing to the braking point.
Good luck and I'm sure with enough laps and the advice above you'll be passing this driving skill.
Extra - You can definitely use more track on the corners. Don't be afraid to go right to the edge of the track and try out the kerbs. Use your time during practice to see which kerbs you can use and which you should avoid, then, when you start doing fast laps, use them on the braking zones, on the apexes and on the exits to make the corners as wide as possible and to carry as much speed as possible. Here are a few examples to take into account - Example 1 | Example 2

โGreat to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Each fortnight you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.
Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls each fortnight and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, each fortnight you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.
We have assigned you a turnover day, on this day you'll be able to see your feedback from the instructors (it could be the next day as well), your score for the assigned task and your progress.
Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.
The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed throughout the fortnight. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.
If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know.
Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.
โ
Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
