Previous Instructor Notes

As more skills are added to the combination assessments they naturally become harder. Essentially there are more areas where errors can be seen. You did an extremely good job last week and managed to pass. If you look back at your telemetry you'll be able to spot small improvements that are needed. For example, sometimes just a slight hesitation on the throttle as you accelerate or missing a tight apex.

Extra - Try to do a few session as hot laps are needed, work on the trail brake too long at full brake consistency - example

---------------------

17/11/2023
This is a pass and quite a good one. Sometimes you really hit the throttle perfectly. As always, it is about the consistency of this. It is common for throttle work to be a more evolved process. Trickier to master and stay focused. When you achieve a good acceleration point then you'll be half way to achieving the desired smooth acceleration with no lifting off.

Extra - Try to get in more time trialing. Quiet time on track is important to hone your skills. You are driving well and the main issue at the moment is you need to trail brake. Hard on the brakes and as you turn in ease of the brakes towards the apex - example

----------------------

10/11/2023
‍
Please drive more laps.Β  It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 20-30 laps being completed.Β  The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.Β

Good luck and have fun on track πŸ’ͺ

Extra - Currently you are over turning the wheel on exit, try to straight just a little bit quicker. Also, at times you are braking too heavy, avoid staying on the brake at 100% pressure for too long, ease off a little earlier - example

----------------------

‍
Nicely done, you show that consistency is there. It would be a good idea to do some time trials to further improve your consistency. Work on this more with more longer sessions of 20+ laps as ones concentration sometimes affects ones consistency in these longer sessions.

This skill is important as you work towards your second Combination Assessment.

Extra - Avoid over braking, practice releasing the brake a little earlier - example

----------------------

29/09/2023
Fantastic racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apex's, especially considering these were mainly race sessions. Great job using the whole width of the track. Practice trying to take a slightly later apex and see how this affects your deltas. Also have in the back of your mind the angle / direction of the car as you take the apex. The more it is facing in the direction of the coming straight the quicker you'll be able to effectively get on the throttle.

Your throttle engagement should generally be within two car lengths of your apex.

Extra - Your use of the brake a little heavy and is costing you time, try to avoid at all costs slowing your car down too much - example

----------------------

22/09/2023
Good control through the chicane. There are improvements to be made, work on your entry width, push a little harder mid-chicane. Chicanes are a great insight into a drivers skill level as, it requires a good mastery of all skills, very quickly. Your racing line is good and your mid chicane acceleration is great. Also try to be quicker getting on the throttle on the exits (not just in chicanes). Remember gear choice is especially important in chicanes due to accelerating from slow speeds.

Extra - Avoid braking too hard on fast corners this is losing you too much speed - example

25/08/2023
We will move on for the moment - you need to push harder in the mid chicane, try to use as much acceleration as possible and most importantly don't over brake. Chicanes are a complicated area and the more time you send time trialling the better you'll get at it.

Extra - Start trail braking which means easing off the brake as you turn into the corner instead of holding 100%Β brake pressure until you quickly release. We'll be studying this more soon but for the time being try to continue braking, but only a little as you turn in to the corner, this is especially useful on slower corners - example

Braking points are generally very good however there are some things to work on a little more. The mid chicane throttle work is lacking. Β Have confidence to put your foot down mid chicane to squeeze in a little acceleration. It might feel insignificant but there is lots of time to be found here. Plan for your exit as well as the exit out of the corner is very important a good line and using the width is crucial.

Extra - Remember on faster corners you can experiment with braking with less power to help maintain your speed, make a big impact on your segment times - example

This was a narrow pass which means that you are understand the principle well but there was a room for continued improvement here.

There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Secondly, there are a number of times that your gear choice could be improved. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Extra - Work on applying a smooth brake. It is important to keep the car well balanced and the on/off motion that you sometimes display will mean that the car will have difficulties in maintaining it's traction on corners - example

----------------------

15/07/2023
We left this a day to see if there was more info / laps driven and glad we did. Good corner gear choices. It is often the case that people change down too far in a belief that it will be faster however, you nailed this. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra - You are remaining on the brakes for too long, try to start easing off as you enter the corner, this will help avoid your car slowing too much - example

Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins.Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! πŸ’ͺ

Extra - As explained above you have to keep an eye on for where you are applying far too much brake, try for a more subtle touch of the brakes, gentle (but still quick) squeezes of the brake are better as they will unsettle the car less and keep the cars weight distribution more centered - example

----------------------

16/06/2023
‍
Very nice. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps, amazing work and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.
‍

Extra - Get tighter on this apex, on these complex corner sections (with the previous segment), you really have to consciously plan your racing line - example

----------------------

09/06/2023
‍
Very nice, your braking points are sharp and spot on. Important! Be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily. Β Also you tend to brake just a little too late which can push you a little too deep into the corner

Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! πŸ’ͺ

Extra - Watch out for big differences like in the following segment, these are very costly and will ruin your lap times. Always question how the reference lap is able to achieve more throttle or less brake - example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Each week you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls each week and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, each week you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, on this day you'll be able to see your feedback from the instructors, your score for the assigned task and your progress.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next seven days. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed throughout the week. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know.

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.
‍
Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
