Instructor Notes

A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Secondly, there are a number of times that your gear choice could be improved. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Bonus Focus Point

You are braking too early, causing your speed to drop significantly earlier than optimal and costing you a bit of time as a result. Try braking at a later point so you can carry more speed before reaching the apex, gaining you more time overall. - Example

There is some good segments and some bad. The main issue is the power of braking. This need looking at again as you struggled to reach the correct brake pressure. Bringing all these skills together at the same time takes time and effort. Concentrate on one or two tracks and you should have this in the bag. Remember try a few quick sessions to ensure there are no glaring errors when you review your telemetry.

Extra -

You are not braking at the right brake pressure, meaning you have to brake earlier as a result in order to compensate the lighter brake pressure. Try applying more brake pressure so you can slow the car more efficiently, allowing you to brake later too, gaining you more time overall. Once we get the power of your braking sorted, we can move on to the next assessment. - Example

Good corner gear choices. It is often the case that people change down too far in a belief that it will be faster however, you nailed this. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra -

You are still braking and accelerating at the same time, causing you have to hold the brakes for longer to avoid going off track. This however, gives costs you a significant amount of time because your speed is considerably lower than optimal and you do not have much speed on the exit. Try use one pedal at a time to have more control of the car, which will help hold the brakes for less time, allowing you to maintain a higher minimum speed and gain more time overall as a result. - Example

----------------------

27/04/2026
Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins. Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra -

You are applying too much brake pressure in some of the lighter braking zones, causing your speed to be significantly lower than optimal and costing you a considerable amount of time. Try applying less pressure on the brakes so you can carry a higher minimum speed through the corner, gaining you time. - Example

----------------------

Some more work is needed here, there are a few mistakes that need addressing before we move on. Have a look at the advice bellow and give this assignment another go. It's important to get this correct as if you're braking is incorrect you'll lose time through all parts of the corner.

Extra -

In general, you are using too much brake pressure. This can activate the ABS which reduces braking efficiency and can lead to tyre wear and overheating (example). The other thing I saw, was that sometimes you are lifting off the brakes a little mid braking zone before increase the pressure again. This can upset the cars balance going into the corner, focus on holding peak brake pressure and then releasing smoothly (example).

----------------------

31/03/2026
Your braking is too inconsistent. Sometimes you are showing good technique and other times your braking strength is not where it needs to be for that particular corner. This leads to other mistakes in your driving. Try to improve your consistency for the next assessment so we can move past this stage.

Extra -

In Turn 4 at Red Bull Ring, you are braking too late, and also applying throttle while braking. This causes you overshoot the corner as you are asking the car to slow down and accelerate at the same time, which induces understeer and makes the car rotate less. Use only one pedal at a time. Try adjusting to an earlier braking point, with less brake pressure, and gradually release the brakes as you approach the apex, and then get onto the throttle. - Example

----------------------

16/03/2026
Apologises for the delay. Really good job with your apexes, not much to comment on here. We'll move onto the next assignment now, good luck and have fun!

Extra -

You aren't aggressive enough when getting back on power. Have a look at this linked segment (example) and see how the reference lap quickly applies the throttle, while you apply slowly and carefully. This costs you time under acceleration and down the straights. A bit of work here and you'll see several tenths come off your lap times 💪 - example

----------------------

04/03/2026
Your braking points are spot on however you are still on the throttle while braking which means you run deep into corners. This is good enough for a pass though, we will move onto the next skill. Good luck and have fun!

Extra -

Have a look at your steering inputs. Often, you are turning the wheel too much. Try to reduce your inputs by 20-30 degrees to avoid understeer. Understeer is when the front tyres lose grip before the rear tyres, which results in the car steering less than optimal. This can cause the tyres to wear faster and increase tyre temps (making the tyre too hot), you'll also have to go slower through corners to make it around. - example

Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.  Good luck and have fun on track

Extra -

Even though your apexes were really good, it is important also to get the width on entry and exit from the corners, work on this as you look at the second aspect of your braking. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
