Instructor Notes

A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are dropping into a gear too low for the corner, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Bonus Focus Point

You are lifting off the throttle a lot, and are too slow getting back on throttle on corner exits, causing your exit speed to be compromised and costing you a significant amount of time as a result. Try applying the throttle quicker as you reach the apex, so you can accelerate quicker as you exit the corner, gaining you more time overall due to carrying a higher exit speed. - Example

Your braking is looking good. There are places you could improve but in general you follow the power and speed of the reference driver well. Try to be a bit smoother on the pedal and avoid pumping the brake which can unsettle the car. Keep it up and look forward to reviewing your gearing next.

Extra -

You are too slow with getting back on throttle, costing you time on the exit and affecting your exit speed. Try applying the throttle earlier so you can have a quicker acceleration and carry a higher exit speed, gaining you more time overall as a result. - Example

----------------------

20/05/2026
A little more work is needed here, when driving formula cars you need to adjust your braking technique a little bit. Instead of a longer, lighter brake you want to brake later and much harder than in most other cars. Give this assignment another go and see how you get on.

Extra -

You aren't aggressive enough when getting back on power. Have a look at this linked segment (example) and see how the reference lap quickly applies the throttle, while you apply slowly and carefully. This costs you time under acceleration and down the straights. A bit of work here and you'll see several tenths come off your lap times 💪

Very nice. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps, amazing work and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.

Extra -

You are too slow at getting back on throttle, which is costing you significant time on corner exit. Try and apply the throttle earlier so you can maintain a higher exit speed that you will carry it all the way until the next braking zone, gaining you time overall. - Example

Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra -

You are not using the most of your brakes. You are reaching about 80% in some heavy braking zones, when you could be at 100%. Try braking with more pressure in the heavy braking zones, which will allow you to brake later as a result. - Example

----------------------

06/04/2026
Some more work is needed here before we move on. Often you are braking too early, the lap I was doing was set in a 100% distance race so I factored in tyre wear and fuel loads. This is mainly because you are taking a bit too long to get to peak brake pressure. There were a couple more tweaks to make before we move on which you can read bellow.

Extra -

Often you can use more steering input to help get around the corner faster. Make sure you aren't on the throttle while braking. often you are still 10-15% on the accelerator under braking. This increases braking distance and can cause understeer, which is when the front tyres slide before the rear and cause your steering inputs to be less effective. - example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
