We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

Please drive more laps.  It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed.  The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....
Please can you make sure you are on the latest logger via this link: https://intercom.help/track-titan/en/articles/7964105-how-do-i-update-my-track-titan-logger

Extra - You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

----------------------

13/11/2024
A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are one gear off the reference lap, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Extra - Here you go too deep into the first part of the chicane. This makes the final left much tighter and means you cannot accelerate out early enough. You lose time from this mistake. Compromise in chicanes is key to the best overall time. Example

There are still too many corners where you are dropping down too many gears. Focus on what gears the reference lap uses in each corner, and try to copy this as much as you can.

Extra - Here are 3 examples of where you dropped into too low of a gear. In all cases, this meant you couldn't get on the throttle as quickly as the reference lap which made you lose time on the exit of the corner and down the following straight.

Example 2

You are still dropping into too low of a gear for a lot of corners. Keep checking back on that reference lap and really try to focus on what gear you are using for each corner. Good luck, and you'll be on to the next task in no time.

Extra - It may help you to do a few more laps. Learning to use a different gear to what you are used to takes a lot of practice, so try to complete at least 30-50 laps each week, this should really help you to improve quickly.

Still some more work needed. You are still dropping down too many gears, which is costing you lap time. Go back to the reference lap and focus on what gear is being used in each corner. Getting this sorted will see your lap times improve a lot.

Extra - Try not to brake too much, or lift off the throttle for too long through fast corners, like 130R at Suzuka. This corner is completely flat out in F1 cars, but you are still lifting off for a long time before the corner in this example. Try to trust the grip of the car a bit more, and you'll be able to corner much faster.

A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are dropping into a gear too low for the corner, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Extra - Gearing is so important in the MX-5, don't push it much further than 7000rpm and it very important not to drop into too low a gear too early.  Your gear choices were good, just get the timing a little better - example

----------------------

24/01/2024
Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins.

Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Good braking, getting to the 80% braking in the MX5 can be key.  Careful on the throttle that you don't completely lift, partial lifts will help maintain your speed better - example

----------------------

10/01/2024
Good racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apexes. Great job using the whole width of the track. Practice trying to take a slightly later apex and see how this affects your deltas. Also have in the back of your mind the angle / direction of the car as you take the apex. The more it is facing in the direction of the coming straight the quicker you'll be able to effectively get on the throttle.

Your throttle engagement should generally be within two car lengths of your apex.

Extra - Errors and consistency is creeping back into your braking points. Get this under control to be able to understand how the car reacts to the corners each lap with little or no variance - example

----------------------

27/12/2023
Very nice, your braking points are sharp and spot on quite a lot of the time. Important! Be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily.

Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Braking points are definitely better but power needs a lot of work which we'll pick up an a later assignment. Hard fast braking is the key especially on slower corners - example

----------------------

13/12/2023
We'll give this one more assessment, reread the details of the assessment and work hard to bring those braking points forward a little. Fast feet, use left foot braking and really find the limits of the car. Good luck!

Extra - Also avoid how much you brake on corners where you could maintain your car's minimum speed better - example

---------------------

29/11/2023
There were some good segments but unfortunately too many missed braking points. Practice trying to be consistent. This is best done by driving a little slower than your maximum. Remember your braking points and try to repeat for 3 laps in a row, always trying to be within a second and a half of the lap before. Only when you achieve this try going a little faster. Repeat his process for many laps but don't forget to put back to the analysis to make sure you aren't making any big mistakes. Brake hard and fast, never rest your foot on the brake before committing to the braking point.Good luck and I'm sure with enough laps and the advice above you'll be passing this driving skill.

Extra - Work on a single braking motion on the majority of corners, brake hard and fast and then ease off into the corner. Your racing line is very important here, wide on entry is needed - example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, on this day you'll be able to see your feedback from the instructors (it could be the next day aswell), your score for the assigned task and your progress.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
