Instructor Notes

20/01/2026 - 02/02/2026 - 11/06/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are one gear off the reference lap, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Extra -

A key area for improvement is your trail braking approach. Ensuring smooth brake modulation helps maintain car balance and maximizes tire grip. Apply strong braking at first, then slowly reduce pressure as you steer into the corner, completing the release at the apex. As an example, start easing off the brakes right at turn-in to carry more controlled speed through the corner. Example

Could you please run more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to make sure we're getting it right. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Extra - From your session at Watkins Glenn, you're quite often a gear off from the reference lap. That can make it more difficult for you to achieve a good minimum speed during a corner, as well as cause a few more unwanted effects.
Compare your laps to the reference driver and try to match the gearing for each corner. Being in a lower gear can cause some understeer and lower your minimum speed in the corner, so try comparing your lap times using higher gears in corners like this one.

Your brake inputs are really good. Be careful of how much pressure you're using, quite often you're using about 10% more than needed. You can be more aggressive on power when exiting the corner though.

Extra - Often, you aren't getting on power soon enough and not fast enough. Try to get on throttle earlier to find time. You also steer too much sometimes, which creates understeer. - example

----------------------

10/11/2025
Great racing line and you are hitting nearly all of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can slowly tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are nailing the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up!

Extra - You're sometimes letting the car drift towards the corner before the turn-in point, giving you a tighter entry and therefore slower corner speed (example). Try to brake in as much of a straight line as possible and commit to a good turn-in point to widen the corner radius.

Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.

Good luck and have fun on track đŸ’Ș

Sometimes, you'll hit the perfect line through a corner—clean, sharp, with a strong exit. But there's often more speed to be found by hugging the apex even tighter. Start by taking a wide approach at the entry curb, focusing on your apex timing (be it early or late), then accelerate out in a way that utilizes the entire width of the track. As you accumulate more laps, this technique will become second nature. Once you've got consistency down, you can make small tweaks to cut down your lap times even more.

Extra - Use the width of the track. Every opportunity to test the limits of the track should be used. There is room both on entry and exit to the corner to go wider. Example

----------------------

22/09/2025

Finding the fastest way through a corner isn’t always about sticking to the line that feels “just right.” Sometimes, pushing closer to the apex unlocks hidden speed. Imagine starting wide, aiming your entry toward the curb, and adjusting when you clip the apex—earlier or later, depending on the turn’s demands. On the exit, let the car drift naturally across the track, using every inch of space. Over time, these adjustments become automatic, and once they do, you can fine-tune your approach to shave off even more time.

Extra - Here you turn in too late. This means your entry is compromised because you have to use a tighter radius. For corners where exits onto the straight are critical you want to be apexing later like this but not here where there is a corner following. Example

Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! đŸ’Ș

Extra - Here you go too wide in the first part of the complex. This makes the final right much tighter and means you cannot accelerate out early enough. You lose time from this mistake. Compromise in corner complexes is key to the best overall time. Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track đŸ’Ș

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
