Previous Instructor Notes

21/01/2026
Your racing lines are starting to look like you are understanding. In most situations we want to open up the entry and exit of the corner so that when we clip the apex the path we travel has the largest possible radius. This allows you to carry the most possible speed through the corner. There are exceptions, for example in corner complexes, where sometimes a compromise is required. There are still a few corners where you are entering too tight and exiting too narrow, which costs you minimum speed. It's just about a pass but lets keep working on this as you go into the next challenge - Consistency.

Extra - Try to be less erratic with the throttle, smaller motions will help. This is tricky but when you ease off the throttle, you often take the throttle to 20-30% pressure. Try to use smaller movements to avoid slowing the car too much. Example

Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track. Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Now you only need to stay under that limit. Example

----------------------

07/01/2026
The lines are good (there is still room to get tighter though) and your braking points are good. Your mid chicane acceleration is ok, in some chicanes you'll be able to get a bit more out of this section, use that short period to get a short burst of speed but remember the final exit is all important. Try not to come completely off the throttle when not necessary, sometimes you'll be able to just release the throttle 30-50% instead. Also, remember it is your exit speed that is of the most importance, concentrate on this.

Extra - You are often lifting off too much in high speed corners. This is a sign of lack of confidence and commitment. To be fast you have to trust the car and the downforce at speed. Try to maintian less of a liftt in some of these corners - sometimes it is actually better for stability. Example

Please do more laps. You need between 30 to 50 to really see how you're doing. Our trainers are here to help whenever. Good luck and have fun out there!

----------------------

26/11/2025
Please drive a track like Zolder so we can analyse your driving in a multitude of different corner/chicane types. Great driving otherwise. Once we tick this box we will be onto the next one in no time.

Extra - Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track - scrubbing speed. Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Now you only need to stay under that limit. It looks like here you unwind the wheel in a step once you realise this instead of smoothly fixing your mistake. Example

----------------------

12/11/2025
Could you please run more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to make sure we're getting it right. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Extra - Sometimes in tighter corners, you're carrying a bit too much speed at the entry and that's giving you a less ideal exit line, costing you time there (example). Make sure you slow down effectively, work on your braking points and make sure the car is pointing towards a more efficient racing line at the corner exit.

Please drive a circuit that has multiple chicanes on it so that we can look at your chicane skills and assess your latest plan. Zolder is a great track to try out a number of different styles of chicanes.

Extra - Sometimes you're turning your steering wheel a bit too much, mainly in the tighter corners. This can cause a lot of understeer since you're essentially making the tyres slide on the track. Try to reduce your steering input and then slightly turn a little more each lap. Once you see that the car is not responding to your inputs, you've found the tyres' grip limit. Please drive a track like Zolder so we can analyse your driving in a multitude of different corner/chicane types. Great driving otherwise. Once we tick this box we will be onto the next one in no time.

Extra - Here you go too wide in the first part of the complex. This makes the final right much tighter and means you cannot accelerate out early enough. You lose time from this mistake. Compromise in corner complexes is key to the best overall time. Example

----------------------

30/07/2025
A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There are a couple of segments with heavier braking zones where you can brake a bit harder and hit 100% brake pressure, otherwise you manage to apply every skill really well.
Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible. Keep up the good work!

Extra - You need to work a bit more on your racing line through double apex corners. Looking at these two examples - Example 1 | Example 2 - you need to widen your line a bit more between the two apexes. Carrying the brakes into the corner, after the first apex, and combining that with a smooth steering input will help you rotate the car there. Doing that will give you a straighter and faster exit.

----------------------

17/07/2025
It is a hard task to bring all these skills together at the same time. Keep up the work, it is worth persevering. By concentrating on the important of the braking point and power will make it possible to turn your attention more to the throttle. It is at this point that you'll see the biggest improvements in your times. The braking points and apex work suffered in this combination assessment. Concentrate on these two areas to move onto the next training plan.

Extra - To gain an edge, work on holding higher speeds through corners by delaying braking and keeping the throttle engaged longer. This approach will minimize the delta on corner exits, giving you a stronger drive onto the straights. As an example, maintaining steady throttle pressure through the apex can lead to a noticeable boost in exit momentum. Example

---------------------

Could you please drive more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to get a read of how you are doing, even if you are not driving as part of a specific plan. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

Good corner gear choices, a nice improvement. It is often the case that people change down too far in a belief that it will be faster however, you've nailed this now. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far.

You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck!

Extra - You tend to hesitate a little on corner exit, trust the car, live on the edge and how far you can push the car to the limit. Small lifts in the last moments of the corner will cause you to struggle to hit the top speeds on the straights. If you need to use the kerb get the car nice and straight to avoid the small lifts that you are currently making.  This is where the fun starts! - example

----------------------

04/06/2025
A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are one gear off the reference lap, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Now you only need to stay under that limit. Example

Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins.

Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - The main area you are losing time at the moment is on a slightly early braking point. You brake just a tad too early but then get on the accelerator at the same time as the reference lap. Push that limit and see if you can consistently nail a slightly later braking point - example

----------------------

24/04/2025
Okay, you are hitting most of your apex's. The smoother you can be with your racing line the more you can distribute grip to all four tyres. There are a few areas you can tweak over time on your entry and exit lines but you are starting to learn the clipping points mid-corner. Keep it up! You just need to apply this on every corner.

Extra - You're sacrificing potential speed in the middle of turns by not cutting the apex as sharply as possible. Maximise the track's width on entry, at the apex, and on exit when the car is under control and stable. Example

----------------------

09/04/2025
Very nice, your braking points are sharp and spot on. Important! Be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to loose too much speed by braking too heavily. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Although your braking points are looking quite good, you're usually not braking hard enough and that either encourages you to brake earlier or makes you carry too much speed into a corner and miss the apex (example). In heavy braking after a longer straight like in the given example, you should be able to at least briefly use all of the available brake pressure without locking the tyres. If you're worrying about locking the wheels, during a practice session you can test how hard you can brake at different speeds without locking up. Over time, you'll be able to naturally brake effectively without giving it much thought, so practice as often as you can and try to push the limits without worries, you can always reset the car in a practice session.

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
