Instructor Notes

27/04/2026 - 11/06/2026
We are ready to assess your practice from last week. Please provide us some laps and we'll check again on your next turnover day. To really learn a track in Sim racing, from our analysis of users data between 30-50 laps in a week are required to improve significantly (depending on track length).

The next Instructor notes will be provided when we have sessions to review. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing your improvements. 😁

Previous Instructor Notes

13/04/2026
Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive whether you have the control choosing a different gear. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra - You are not steering enough, which causes you to run wide and miss the apex, costing you significant time. Try using more steering input in order to properly reach the apex and be able to maintain a higher minimum speed and gain more time. - Example

----------------------

31/03/2026
A bit more adjustment is needed here. You frequently shift into a gear that's too low for the corner, which costs you time. Reflect on the gear choices from the reference lap and experiment with maintaining control in those gears. This should help improve your segment times.

Extra - You are braking considerably early, which is causing you to be in a gear too low for the corner, as your speed is significantly lower than optimal, meaning you do not have the speed under braking, hence the lower gear in some corners, such as Lesmo 1. Try adjusting your braking to a later braking point so you can carry more speed under braking and maintain a higher minimum speed. The extra speed will help you with going up a gear higher, as the speed will be too much for a lower gear. - Example

----------------------

23/03/2026
A little bit more work is needed here. Too often you are dropping into a gear too low for the corner, there is time left on the table when you are doing this. Try to remember the gearing choices of the reference lap and test where you are able to control the car better in this gear and you'll notice your segment deltas should be improving as well.

Extra - You are entering the corner with too much throttle instead of the brake, causing you to gain speed into the corner, which results in a delay on the throttle on the exit of the corner, costing you time. Try begin the corner in 3rd gear instead of 2nd gear to carry more speed into the corner, and gradually apply throttle as you are at the apex. Example

----------------------

04/03/2026
Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Occasionally you were applying the brakes when not needed. A quick check back at the reference lap will really help find these little wins. Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - Your power is really good, and when you combine this with your braking point, you'll be getting much closer to the reference lap. You're still braking a little early at times. Also, it can be noted that you never really come off the throttle completely sometimes. This is causing you to struggle to rotate the car successfully and therefore get hard onto the throttle quickly. Sometimes you really have to come off the throttle then back on it. It is better to lift off the throttle completely, rotate the car, and then have a fast exit out of the corner - example

----------------------

17/02/2026
There needs to be a little more speed and urgency in your braking. Sometimes you nail it but on too many occasions there is too much hesitancy. You are braking a little earlier than the reference lap and getting to 100% braking later. Try to press the brake pedal quicker whilst doing your best to maintain traction. Also, try to avoid resting on the brake pedal before fully committing to the braking phase. Practice is needed but it is a skill that is relatively easy to view and adapt to.

Extra - Avoid hitting the brake pedal multiple times in one braking zone. Ideally you want to hit it firmly to begin with and then ease off as things slow down. Hitting it more than once suggests you broke too early. Example

----------------------

02/02/2026
Could you please run more laps? We need about 30 to 50 to make sure we're getting it right. The instructors are here to help whenever you're ready. Good luck, and hope you have a good time on the track!

----------------------

20/01/2026
Please drive more laps. It isn't possible to get a fair and true reflection of this assessment without at least 30-50 laps being completed. The instructors are ready to help you when you are ready.  Good luck and have fun on track

Extra - Currently, the main challenge is your tendency to back off the throttle instead of committing to full 100% acceleration. A small adjustment to your line, hugging the apex more closely, will greatly improve this. Example

----------------------

22/12/2025
Your braking is too inconsistent. Sometimes you are showing good technique and other times your braking strength is not where it needs to be for that particular corner. This leads to other mistakes in your driving. Try to improve your consistency for the next assessment so we can move past this stage.

Extra - Avoid hitting the brake pedal multiple times in one braking zone. Ideally you want to hit it firmly to begin with and then ease off as things slow down. Hitting it more than once suggests you broke too early. Example

----------------------

08/12/2025
Apologies for the delay. Your apexes are looking good. We'll done. There are a few corners where we're not maximising the track width on entry/exit but we'll work on that later on in the plan. Keep up the good work!

Extra - In some of the long, medium/high speed corners, you are not maximising the tyres grip. Try to take a bit more speed into these bends and turn the wheel a bit more to help rotate the car. It's important not to turn the wheel too much otherwise you'll get understeer. Understeer is when the front tyres lose grip before the rear tyres, which results in the car steering less than optimal. This can causes the tyres to wear faster and increase tyre temps (making the tyre too hot), you'll also have to go slower through corners to make it around. Remember to check back with the reference lap and compare your speed and steering with the reference. - example

----------------------

24/11/2025
You're apexes are ok in some corners, however there are too many times where you miss it. Remember, approach from the outside, brake, turn in and then get as close to the inside kerb (going over it in most corners) as possible.

Extra - You are approaching most corners from the middle of the track. Try to stay on the outside.
You are also holding the throttle at around 20-30% pressure through lots of corners which pushes you wide. Try staying off the throttle for longer.
example

----------------------

10/11/2025
Sometimes, you'll hit the perfect line through a corner—clean, sharp, with a strong exit. But there's often more speed to be found by hugging the apex even tighter. Start by taking a wide approach at the entry curb, focusing on your apex timing (be it early or late), then accelerate out in a way that utilizes the entire width of the track. As you accumulate more laps, this technique will become second nature. Once you've got consistency down, you can make small tweaks to cut down your lap times even more.

Extra - Try not to lift off way before you brake, this lag time is time you could still be accelerating, instead you are coasting. Unless you are saving fuel for a race stint there is no real benefit to this strategy - certainly not in lap time. Example

----------------------

22/10/2025
Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra - A key area for improvement is your trail braking approach. Ensuring smooth brake modulation helps maintain car balance and maximizes tire grip. Apply strong braking at first, then slowly reduce pressure as you steer into the corner, completing the release at the apex. As an example, start easing off the brakes right at turn-in to carry more controlled speed through the corner. Example

----------------------

Really sorry for the delay on the update.
There were some good segments but unfortunately too many missed braking points. Practice trying to be consistent. This is best done by driving a little slower than your maximum. Remember your braking points and try to repeat for 3 laps in a row, always trying to be within a second and a half of the lap before. Only when you achieve this try going a little faster. Repeat his process for many laps but don't forget to put back to the analysis to make sure you aren't making any big mistakes.  Brake hard and fast, never rest your foot on the brake before committing to the braking point. Good luck and I'm sure with enough laps and the advice above you'll be passing this driving skill.

Extra - One thing you can do to help improve your braking points and overall speed through the corners is using more track (example). The goal is to make the corner as wide as possible to be able to carry more speed through it. To do that, you need to stay right on the edge of the track on the approach to the corner, stay wide until you reach a good turn-in point, then aim for the apex. On the exit the goal is usually the same: start accelerating near the apex and aim to go as wide as you can without going over the track limits. Don't be afraid to try to get on the kerbs, you can gain a lot of time by using them!

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
