A good combination assessment. There were many good laps exhibited and the majority of the racing skills learnt have been displayed on multiple segments. There were some areas where improvements are needed and these will lower your lap times. Firstly, work hard at those braking points. If there is one area that needs to be studied and perfected, this is the most useful. Secondly, there are a number of times that your gear choice could be improved. Learning really comes from driving, analysing and then driving again until you feel you've reached a wall then analysing again. This habit will really help you improve as quickly as possible.

Bonus Focus Point

You are releasing the brakes too quickly, causing you to carry too much speed and overshoot the corner, costing you a considerable amount of time as a result of this. Try holding onto the brakes for longer so you can slow the car a bit more for the corner, allowing you to make the apex and maintain a higher minimum speed, gaining you more time overall. - Example

Good corner gear choices in general. Sometimes you are one gear off the reference lap, try testing with the different cars that you drive whether you have the control choosing a different gear. Try and compare the deltas to get a feeling for whether there is a big difference on your lap times. So you've reached a milestone - well done! Your next weeks training, will be assessed on how well you perform with all the plans that you have driven so far. You are currently doing really well and should find this straight forward, just strive to increase your consistency and push for slightly quicker lap times. Good luck! Time to bring all that you've learnt together now in the next assessment....

Extra -

You are sometimes going down one gear too low for the corner, which is costing you time rather than gaining you time. This is because when you are downshifting too low, you are causing the engine braking to kick in further, reducing your speed significantly more than optimal, and causing you to be too slow to attack the corner the same way you could be attacking it as a result of this. Have a look at the reference lap, and try keep the car in a higher gear so you can avoid the engine braking kicking in and slowing down the car too much, which will help gain you more time overall. - Example

Very nice, be careful how much pressure you apply on fast sweeping corners, it is important not to lose too much speed by braking too heavily, generally you are OK at this but a couple of mistakes were visible. Next up is your first acceleration technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps, the more the better! 💪

Extra -

You are braking with too much pressure, causing your speed to drop more than optimal and costing you a significant amount of time. Try applying less brake pressure so you can carry more speed into the corner, gaining more time overall as a result of maintaining a higher minimum speed. - Example

Very nice. Tight to the kerb on the majority of the segments (where needed). Keep up the laps, amazing work and looking forward to see how you perform on the next assigned task.

Extra -

You are applying too much pressure on the brakes, causing your speed to be reduced significantly more than optimal and costing you time as you not carrying the ideal speed for the corner. Try applying less pressure so you can carry a higher minimum speed through the corner and gain more time overall. - Example

Very nice, your braking points are decent. If anything you do brake slightly early, but that is suited to your level of experience. As you develop we can push those further. There are a few areas we can work on over the coming weeks but you are already making progress.  Braking is critical to set up the whole dynamic of a corner. If you don't get this right it is impossible to make up for it with other areas of driving. Next up is your first racing line technique, good luck and keep knocking out those laps! 💪

Extra -

In Pouhon at Spa-Francorchamps, you are braking whilst accelerating, which is causing you to carry more speed into the corner and inducing understeer, as you are asking the car to brake and accelerate at the same time. Avoid using both pedals at once, as this will only affect your driving rather than help it. Try remain on the brakes first, and then go onto the throttle as soon as you are off the brakes. Have a look at your throttle and braking inputs compared to the reference lap. - Example

Great to have you onboard and hope you are ready to do some training! The process is super simple. Every two weeks you'll have an assigned task which your instructor will set based on our training schedule. Each task will be an important driving technique that you'll need to master in order to progress to the next discipline.

Having assessed and written hundreds of training plans, Track Titan instructors have analysed our drivers achievements and pitfalls and the results show that a consistent application of the driving techniques is crucial to progressing as a good, fast and safe driver. Therefore, every two weeks you'll be tested for consistency and quality of the chosen technique. If the instructor feels that more time on track is required to progress then no problem, hone your skills, dig deep and you'll soon pass to the next discipline.

We have assigned you a turnover day, the instructors will then assess your driving and provide your score for the assigned task and your progress. This will be vary, but is normally available within one to three days.

Please follow the advice in the assigned task and practice this race technique as much as you can in the next fortnight. We require 30-50 laps in this period to give you a good assessment of your driving. Remember, referring back to the reference lap and in particular the telemetry data to see how you need to perform to perfect a skill will aid your progress and competence.

The Instructors will look through the sessions and laps you have completed over the last fourteen days. Priority will be given to hot lapping and time trial laps if available. We understand that with changing conditions (tyre wear, weather, fuel load etc.) the ability to perform consistently and with quality similar to the reference lap alters. This is taken into account with all our assessments. Needless to say, the more laps driven the better your training and practice will be and the better the understanding of your current abilities.

If you have a different motivational goal, please let us know and we'll change it from "Improve driving technique"

Enjoy the training, enjoy the journey.

Good luck and have fun on track 💪

Yours sincerely,
The Instructors
