Conclusion

Great to see that race line mistakes aren't in your top 3 mistakes this week. However when preparing for your corners, often you are either resting on the brake or just not being aggressive enough.

Assigned Task

Braking points and turn in power are your training skills for this week. Practise getting to full braking power quicker. This combined with your braking point will shave substantial time off your laps. Also start to experiment with your turn in. Try testing how your turn in feels when the steering angle is greater. A small practice would be to find a long straight and wiggle from left to right at different speeds to get a feel for the stability of the car.

1st key mistake:

Not enough throttle

Why it matters

Still an area to work on with each week this mistake gets into your top 3.

How much of a problem it is for you

With 24% of your errors coming from your throttle control, there is plenty of room from improvement.

See an example in your own sessions

In the corner combination in Sakhir, you release the throttle down to 40%.  Only a slight 20% release was used by the reference lap.

Learn to improve

If you check back through a number of the other laps this mistake is fairly constant.  Use all your thought when hitting this first combination and try to only slightly release the throttle.  If done correctly you should be as fast down the straight as the reference lap in segment 2.

2nd key mistake:

Braking too early

Why it matters

Easy time to be found on sections where the mistake is braking too soon.

How much of a problem it is for you

At 16% this is another important area to focus on.

See an example in your own sessions

Segment 8 is a good example of braking too early. Later and harder on the brakes will knock a couple of tenths off this segment.  As you are carrying so much speed from the straight.

Learn to improve

Memorize your braking points and look to push those limits whilst still having a stable car that you can turn into the corner and successfully hit your apex.

3rd key mistake:

Not enough brake

Why it matters

There are similarities with the previous mistake, however 'not enough brake' is more focused on not getting to full braking quick enough.

How much of a problem it is for you

Less of a problem but still 12% of your mistakes can be found here.

See an example in your own sessions

Take a look at segment 5, braking early but not effectively is basically not enough brake.  When entering corners it is normally quicker to get to your desired braking percentage as quickly as possible.  Especially on corners where you want 100% braking

Learn to improve

To reiterate, it is generally better to get to full braking quicker than using less braking than having to stay on the brakes longer.  Full brakes (no lockup), time your turn in, then trail brake into the corner turn.
