Conclusion

The trail braking is looking a lot better. Congratulations.

Specific to Singapore. If you are able to in your league use a little more (higher) wing on the front and back. In S1 and S8 maximise the last corner of the combination, even if you have to sacrifice the first corner a little. Racing line - don't be afraid of the walls or kerbs, width is important! Finally, in braking, if you are going to go to 100% then do it quickly and aggressively, don't stop and 60% pause, then continue to 100%. This loses you a lot of time.

Assigned Task

Racing line is key this week. Maximise the width of the track. Use every inch of the track that is available to you. Find out where a lap is invalidated by cutting on every corner.

1st key mistake:

Missed apex

Why it matters

Apexes are the key to maximising your car position on track. The risks are high if not taken well.

How much of a problem it is for you

16% of all of your mistakes are missed apex

See an example in your own sessions

Segment 2 is an example of missing your apex.  On this relatively tight corner, check out your racing line.  Start wider, hit the apex on the right side (or at least get very close to it).  Then throttle out using the width of the track.

Learn to improve

As you drive the track more and more, you'll experience the quirks of the kerbs and how they react with the angle / inclination of the track.  Aggressive driving tends to suggest attacking each corner to the extent of the track limits.

2nd key mistake:

Braking too early

Why it matters

A good mistake to make since it's so easy to fix! You simply need to find a slightly later braking point to maximise your lap time potential.

How much of a problem it is for you

With 13% of all of your mistakes being this one, there is work to be done here.

See an example in your own sessions

Check out how you brake too early in segment 11.  Your braking marker at the start of the kerb is great, just a fraction later, imagine your marker has passed the back of your car instead of the front, then brake.

Learn to improve

Braking late is not just a matter of putting your foot down at a later point on track. There are other secrets to it that are outlined in this video guide on braking later.

3rd key mistake:

Not enough throttle

Why it matters

If you don't crash you won't learn. Easily said in sim racing! not so in IRL racing. Therefore take advantage of it.

How much of a problem it is for you

A bit more than 10% of your mistakes are related to this.

See an example in your own sessions

Segment 14 is a good example of how you apply your throttle.  Late and slightly slow onto the throttle has cost you two tenths on the last corner before the home straight.

Learn to improve

As mentioned last week, and as Christian Horner says, "push, push, push".  Strive for that fastest lap, even if you are nervous about a mistake on the last corner.
