Conclusion

With F1 2021 it is very important to setup the car correctly. The wing is either setup too high and/or too low fuel - ERS mode. Practice your short shifting technique. "simply shift gears before the HUD lights up, thus changing gears before the game suggests doing so. This will also help with traction and is especially useful in wet conditions."

Assigned Task

When training for your next event, test your setup by driving 3 laps, then altering only one item, for example, wing. Then see if you can tell the difference in the car stability / handling.

1st key mistake:

Too much braking

Why it matters

Braking too much is lost tenths on track. The balance between slowing enough for a corner and retaining optimal grip requires practice and experience, often a corner can be taken faster than expected.

How much of a problem it is for you

18% of your mistakes are attributed to applying too much brake. With over 40% of errors related to your general use of the brakes. This is fairly common over your previous training weeks as well.

See an example in your own sessions

Segment 6 shows a big different between the reference lap and your braking.  You performed this better on other laps but it is still a common theme.

Learn to improve

On the braking tab, study the graph to see where you've failed to achieve a similar curve to the reference lap.  Small alterations will help you formulate a better corner stategy.  Balance corner entry, apex and exit speeds to achieve optimal results.

2nd key mistake:

Braking too late

Why it matters

If you find you have entered into a corner too fast and feel that there is a risk you might not be able to remain on the track, trail braking can help. However, there is much more time to be gained on corner exit especially when it leads onto a long fast section.

How much of a problem it is for you

Nearly 11% of your errors are a result of braking too late. With few errors linked to throttle application, it would suggest that you could gain more time on corner exit by getting on the throttle sooner.

See an example in your own sessions

Segment 4 highlights clearly the benefit of getting on the brakes a little sooner so that you can get the power down and enjoy the relatively fast section up to Samsung corner.

Learn to improve

Brake a little earlier than normal and check your deltas to see if the extra speed is beneficial over the following segments.

3rd key mistake:

Unnecessary braking

Why it matters

Even a small amount of unnecessary braking will destroy your lap times.

How much of a problem it is for you

Although these mistakes happen no so often. There are still present, at around 8% and therefore important mistakes to avoid.

See an example in your own sessions

The reference lap is able to achieve no braking at all in Segment 3. With both there reference lap and you own entering this segment at ~140kph, this small dab on the brakes has cost you over half a second.  This is compounded into the next section with your speed being 20kph slower than the reference laps.

Learn to improve

If you find that you often rest your left foot on the brake, double check that it is never engaging the brakes.  Also, in this case blips can be attributed to not having the confidence to use the whole wide of the track thus feeling that the brake needs to be used.
