Conclusion

As is often the case as you move up to a faster class of car it is harder to perfect your braking points. This has been seen this week at Monza and should be your main point of focus.

Assigned Task

There is plenty of time to be had on this car / track combination. The importance of learning a track and understanding the braking power of a car needs many laps to perfect. Even though this analysed session wasn't your quickest, there is still room for improvement. Therefore staying with this combination will only make you faster.

1st key mistake:

Braking too early

Why it matters

A mistake that was seen in your first week of training. This skill is easy to develop and really helps reduce lap times

How much of a problem it is for you

With 20% of your errors coming from braking too early. Focus is required here.

See an example in your own sessions

The final corner at Monza shows how you are braking too soon, it would be possible to brake later as the reference lap stops braking at almost the same point as yourself.

Learn to improve

With only a few laps completed at Monza, it would be difficult for you to have tested and perfected your braking points.  The better you get, the quicker this process is.  The more testing and fine tuning will really show its benefits.

2nd key mistake:

Inconsistent throttle application

Why it matters

A consistent increased application of the throttle is critical to hitting those fastest corner deltas. Releasing or easing off the throttle are common traits until you master a corner.

How much of a problem it is for you

A bit more than 12% of your mistakes are related to this so it's worth paying attention to.

Segment 5 highlights very well that on the corner exit that you aren't sure exactly how far you can push your car.  The more on/off you are on the throttle will always affect your lap times.

Learn to improve

Throttle management is complex and takes a lot of practice, this video highlights many aspects of corner exit and encourages smooth throttle control as an absolute necessity.

3rd key mistake:

Gear too high

Why it matters

If you are in too high a gear then the car simply doesn't use enough of its available power to achieve the quickest lap times.

How much of a problem it is for you

Over 13% of your errors are linked to being in too high a gear.

See an example in your own sessions

The first chicane requires you to drop into first gear, without this you won't have enough power as you put the throttle to the floor.

Learn to improve

Refer back to the reference lap to get tips on gear changes and also learn and watch for the upper limits of the revs with the HUD.  The track guides for Monza will help understand how far you can push your car.
