Bob Felice - Training Plan No. 7

Goal
Get used to loadcell brakes pedals and continue improving.

Conclusion
Impressive results, looking at your progression in the MX5. Corner exits are exceptional. Work is required on the entry mid corner where you are 'scrubbing' your tires by over turning.
Assigned Task
An exercise for you related to your new pedals. To get a feel for them, go full throttle in 1st and press the brake only enough that the speed doesn't drop. Repeat in 2nd gear. Whilst doing this you'll find you'll have to balance the pressure applied. Finally, time to move to another track. Zandvoort in the MX5-Cup. Try to learn the track from all the feedback so far. i.e. braking points, racing line etc.

1st key mistake:
Not trail braking
Why it matters
Not surprisingly with a new pedal set there is time needed to adjust.
How much of a problem it is for you
Over 25% of your mistakes are linked to trail braking
See an example in your own sessions
If you look at segment 1 the brake is applied nicely to 100% then released, trail braking into the corner will allow you to brake that little bit later and control the weight of the car as you reach the apex.
Learn to improve
A look at your brake settings again will be important. Check that the brake gamma in CM | Settings | Assetto Corsa | Controls is now set to 1. With loadcell pedals there is no need to artificially control the force anymore. This will take some getting used to. If all is set as it should be, then stop frequently to check the reference lap graph against your own trail braking.

2nd key mistake:
Too much steering angle
Why it matters
Your nemesis remains. 'undoing' this mistake is going to be a concerted effort.
How much of a problem it is for you
Again a quarter of your mistakes are associated with your steering.
See an example in your own sessions
Watch the orange wheel in segment 8, there is a moment when the wheel turns extremely compared to the reference lap. It is at exactly this point that the Diff to Ref highlights a big drop in speed.
Learn to improve
Listening to the tires as well as feeling the force feedback of the wheel are all clues to how your tires are reacting to the track. Turn up the tire sounds in Content Manager under Assetto Corsa | Audio and see if you can link the car movement, FFB and sounds. Use these flags to try and reduce that 'extra flick' of the steering wheel.

3rd key mistake:
Too harsh braking
Why it matters
Similar to too much braking and both affect the weight balance on the car. By stomping the pedal, the weight is shifted forward and control is trickier.
How much of a problem it is for you
A bit more than 7% of your mistakes are related to this and combined with 'too much braking', there are significant gains to be found here.
See an example in your own sessions
On the second corner entry of segment 7, your braking was at 100% compared to 20% for the reference lap. This took just a bit too much speed off the car.
Learn to improve
Not to much to worry about at the moment, as you adjust to your new pedals. One to keep an eye on though, especially in the under powered MX5-Cup. Once the speed is gone, it is much harder to get it back compared to other race cars.
