Goal

Improve speed and consistency.

Conclusion

Great practise, with many consistent laps. Your throttle control is good but needs to be bit sharper (more aggressive)

Assigned Task

A few technical items to consider. Often your throttle tops out at 98%, it would be advisable to set a small dead-zone at the top end, or soften the pedal a little.

Secondly, the setup of the car was understeering, Experiment with adjusting the aero balance to avoid this understeer.

Thirdly, practice short shifting to ensure that you aren't losing traction on your corner exits.

1st key mistake:

Not enough throttle

Why it matters

Corner exit technique, especially before a long straight, can make or break a good lap time.

How much of a problem it is for you

With over 25% of all of your mistakes being this one, there is work to be done here.

See an example in your own sessions

An example in segment 2, it is possible to take this corner at 100% throttle.  Your small drop to 85% added a tenth to your lap time.  Over your 50+ laps this happens many times.

Learn to improve

Corners where 100% throttle can be used creates an easy solution.  Just remember that segment 2 (assuming you aren't in a race) can always be taken full speed.  Life gets trickier when you are planning your exit strategy on my complex corners.

2nd key mistake:

Braking too early

Why it matters

It goes without saying that braking later reduces your lap time (assuming you make the corner). Even corners where the reference lap approaches the braking phase at a higher speed, you sometimes brake earlier. Focus on keeping your steering wheel straight to be able to brake as late as possible.

How much of a problem it is for you

15% of your mistakes are related to braking too early.

See an example in your own sessions

Your line is good, as is your trail braking, but there is time left on the table as you brake earlier in segment 11 than necessary and are slow to get on the throttle.

It's not just about getting on the brake pedal later, it's also about technique. Check out our guide on how to brake later easily.

3rd key mistake:

Too late to full throttle

Why it matters

Full throttle is where the speed is. As long as you have control, the general aim is to get to full throttle as quickly as possible.

How much of a problem it is for you

Late to full throttle is a common mistake with F1, as there is a fear of spinning the car. With over 14% of your mistakes here. Practise is important.

See an example in your own sessions

Segment 10 is a good example of how you apply your throttle.  Her you lose a quarter of a second by being a little too timid on the exit and well as braking too early.

Learn to improve

Take a moment to watch one of our videos that emphasises the need to get to full throttle quickly.  Think smooth but fast, on / off the throttle will nearly always be slower than quick and smooth.
