Imola, specifically the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, is back on the F1 calendar in 2020. Check out our in-depth guides on how to nail this wonderful track known for its technical, sweeping corners as well as for being the place where F1 lost one of its greatest: Ayrton Senna. You can find our guide for Imola's sector one here.
Turn 7: Tosa
As you exit the fast chicane before, a short straight leads you to heavy braking into one of the track's slowest corners: Tosa.
Brake deep into the corner and be patient on turn-in. You need to carry a lot of speed out of this corner to accelerate up the hill so aim for a late apex and be gentle on the throttle.
Turn 8: Piratella
Turn eight is fast and therefore gives you lots of downforce but the elevation change makes it tricky.
As the corner is downhill, you will always understeer through it so make sure to turn in earlier than you intuitively would.
Furthermore, it is off-camber, i.e. leaning to the outside, meaning that you need to reduce your speed further to make it around this turn.
Turn 9: Acque Minerali
As you come further down the hill, you approach the very technical Acque Minerali (T9-10). T10 is much slower and requires heavy braking which you need to keep in mind for your line through turn nine.
Turn in almost artificially late, keep a lot of steering angle until you suddenly put the wheel completely straight as you hit the brakes for turn ten. To focus on T10's brakng zone early, make sure to keep your eyes on this part of the track even as you are still approaching turn nine.
Turn 10: Acque Minerali
Once you make it through turn ten's short and heavy braking zone, it's all about putting your foot down for a good exit. As you can see, the exit is uphill which will cause your car to oversteer.
In order to still have the needed rear-grip to accelerate quickly, make sure your steering wheel is completely straight, use the exit kerb aggressively to minimise your steering input and let your car run wide towards the right as you run across this bumpy uphill section.
